Florida Non-Tribal Casino Revenue Rises 3% Year-on-Year in November
The Sunshine State may not have access to our best sports betting sites, but its gambling industry is still alive and well.
A new report published by the Florida Gaming Control Commission reveals over $56 million in slot revenue for November. Players across eight non-tribal casinos wagered more than $819 million during the month and received approximately $751 million in winnings. Across the venues, players had the choice from 6,873 slot machines during November.
The revenue figure marks a 3.4% year-on-year increase compared to $54.6 million last November. Revenue was also up 5.7% from the $53.4 million generated in October.
Florida applies a 35% tax rate to slot machine earnings. In November, this resulted in a tax payment of $19.8 million, more than $1 million more than was contributed last month.
Which casinos led the growth?
Five of the eight operators reported higher revenues this November compared to last. This includes The Casino @ Dania Beach, which reported the most significant year-over-year growth of 17.3%, from around $3.6 million to $4.2 million. However, Magic City Casino in Miami brought in the most additional revenue. The casino reported a $1.1 million difference, with its revenue up 11.4% from $9.8 million to $10.9 million.
Other casinos reporting year-on-year growth include Hialeah Park, Calder Casino, and The Big Easy Casino. The remaining venues – Pompano Park, Casino Miami, and Gulfstream Park – saw their revenues fall when compared against the same month last year. Gulfstream Park had the most notable drop of 10.5%.

Florida gaming grows across all sectors
While non-tribal Florida gaming has grown in November, Florida gaming has been increasing in prominence across all verticals in 2024. Earlier in 2024, the US Supreme Court dismissed a challenge to the Seminole Tribe’s right to provide exclusive sports betting across the Sunshine State, finally paving the way for Hard Rock Bet to operate unchallenged.
The operator has leaped at the opportunity to appeal to its hometown audience, with Hard Rock Digital signing an agreement with the NHL’s Florida Panthers. More recently, Hard Rock Bet announced $1,000,000 in promotions exclusively available for Florida bettors to celebrate the first anniversary of Hard Rock Bet relaunching in Florida on Dec. 7.
While Hard Rock Bet operates as the only online sportsbook in Florida right now, that might not be the case forever. The Hard Rock International Chairman suggested the company is open to negotiating with sites like DraftKings and FanDuel to allow these sportsbooks to provide betting lines to bettors in the Sunshine State. If this happens, gaming revenues in Florida could increase even more.
