Michigan isn't home to just our best sports betting sites, but also many of our best real-money online casinos.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has published its latest iGaming results for September 2024. Michigan online casinos combined for $202.6 million in revenue, marking the second-highest figure of the 2024 calendar year. It falls short of the $215.2 million record set in March 2024.

The revenue total represents a 3.0% rise from August when casinos collected almost $196.7 million. Compared year-on-year against the $166.4 million collected last September, revenue was up 21.7%.

BetMGM Casino promo codes, partnered with land-based casino MGM Grand Detroit, led with $53.4 million in revenue in September. In second place, FanDuel Casino promo codes, which partner with MotorCity Casino, collected $48.8 million. DraftKings Casino promo codes, in partnership with the Bay Mills Indian Community, took the third spot on the podium, with $38.2 million in revenue.

Nine casinos report month-on-month growth

Of the state's fifteen casino operators, ten reported month-on-month revenue growth, including the three leading casinos listed above. Fanatics Casino promo codes, partnered with the Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, reported the most significant month-on-month revenue increase of 52.2%. This casino collected $5.7 million in revenue, compared to $3.7 million in August.

The remaining five casinos reported month-on-month declines, including FireKeepers (Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi), PlayGunLake (Gun Lake Tribe), BetRivers (Little River Band of Ottawa), and PokerStars promo codes (Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians). PlayGunLake reported the greatest drop of 18.8% from August.

The fifth operator to report a drop was the Sault Ste. Tribe of Chippewa Indians, which runs the WynnBET online casino. After acquiring WynnBET’s Michigan iGaming operations earlier this year, Caesars Entertainment has just launched a new casino in partnership with the tribe, replacing WynnBET. Next month, this tribe’s results will cover bets placed with Caesars’ new Horseshoe Online Casino, which is currently exclusively available in Michigan.

Larger growth compared year-over-year

Eleven casinos reported higher revenues in September 2024 than in September 2023. Fanatics Casino again reported the largest jump, a 202.9% year-on-year increase. Other casinos reporting significant gains include Caesars Palace Casino, partnered with the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, with revenue up 79.2% year-over-year. Hollywood Online Casino, which operates through a deal with Greektown Casino, also saw a 65.9% year-on-year rise.

The four casinos to report year-on-year revenue decreases include FireKeepers, Sports Illustrated, PokerStars, and WynnBET, which saw the most significant drop of 44.3%.

Sports betting figures also on the rise

In the same release, the MGCB reported the state’s sports betting results for September 2024. Gross sports betting receipts totaled $58.4 million, up 113.5% from the $27.4 million collected in August. Michigan sports betting operators also collected 32.7% more than the $44.0 million generated last September.

The winter months tend to be busier for US sports betting, with the NFL season kicking off each year on the weekend following the first Monday of September.
