New Hampshire Lottery Players Bet Almost $8.5 Million on Celtics During 2024 NBA Playoffs

It has been revealed that players in New Hampshire have wagered almost $8.5 million on the Boston Celtics alone during the franchise’s postseason run. As of June 9, this total came across around 300,000 bets with some of our best sports betting sites, with 90% of players backing the Boston Celtics to win the NBA Finals

The New Hampshire Lottery highlighted some of the most popular wagers during the NBA playoffs, including bets on whether the records of Michael Jordan’s 63 points or Damian Lillard’s 12 made 3-pointers in a single postseason game would be surpassed. Additionally, local players were backing the Celtics’ Jaylen Brown to pick up the Finals MVP award and the Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic to score the most points across the series. 

Executive Director of the New Hampshire Lottery, Charlie McIntyre, said, “It is always a great day to be a Boston Celtics fan, but our New Hampshire players are feeling especially lucky right now as our team now stands just two wins [now one win] from what would be a record 18th championship. The betting activity has been building momentum as the Celtics get closer to hanging another banner from the rafters! Along with hoping for a Celtics championship, we are equally excited about the revenue this NBA playoff run is driving for our public schools here in the Granite State. Go C’s!”

The popularity of betting on the Boston Celtics is expected to boost the state’s sports betting handle, which in April dropped below $60 million for the first time since August 2023. The NBA playoffs only began on April 20.
