Another strong month for our best sports betting sites in the Empire State.

The New York State Gaming Commission has revealed its sports betting figures for March 2025, showing that sportsbooks handled $2.43 billion, an increase of 23.5% month-on-month.

The March 2025 handle was the second-highest of the fiscal year 2024/2025, nearly beating out the previous high of $2.48 billion set in January. That January 2025 figure was the highest in New York sports betting history, showing March's success in getting close to it.

Mobile sports betting GGR was $161.8 million, a drop of 12.4% from February 2025 and an even more significant drop from the high of $447 million produced in January 2025.

DraftKings handled the most sports bets at $912.1 million during the month, a sharp increase from the $717.4 million it handled the month prior. It was also DraftKings’ highest handle in fiscal year 2024/2025. The sportsbook took GGR of $62.5 million from that handle, a 21.2% rise from February 2025.

The New York sports betting app that saw the second most action was FanDuel, with a handle of $862.1 million in March 2025. While that was a rise of 16% compared to February 2025, the March 2025 handle was lower than four months in fiscal year 2024/2025 for FanDuel.

FanDuel generated a GGR of $59.4 million from that handle, its lowest amount since August 2024, when its handle was just $511.6 million.

FanDuel and DraftKings accounted for over 72.7% of all sports bets handled in New York in March 2025.

Betting handle continues golden period

New York sports betting is going through a period of significant success in fiscal year 2024/2025. The sports betting handle hasn’t dropped below $1.2 billion, even when most major leagues weren’t playing in July. Residents have plenty of New York sportsbook promos to choose from.

The state set a record for sports betting handle in October 2024 before beating that total again in January 2025. March 2025 was just $40.7 million behind that record. Between September 2024 and March 2025, the New York sports betting handle has risen above $2 billion in six out of seven months.

Those sports betting numbers could increase if a bill to allow season-long prop bets passes through the legislature. However, considering the bill has been in the Racing, Gaming, and Wagering Committee since Feb. 11, this may not be likely. Still, the New York legislative session runs until June 12, so there is still time for lawmakers to consider the proposition.
