The Phoenix Suns have the shortest odds to win the NBA Championship and have received the most wagers and betting handle at BetMGM - the book's most significant liability heading into the postseason.

Phoenix began the season at +1400 to win the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy, and they're now down to +260. The Suns won a league-high 64 times during the regular season.

It's worth noting the Los Angeles Lakers had the second shortest odds (+450) to win it all to begin the season and didn't even make the play-in games. The Lakers have received 5.9 percent of the tickets and 5.3 percent of the handle.

Additionally, Los Angeles was BetMGM's second-largest liability behind the Suns, so having the Lakers eliminated was an early win for the sportsbook.

The Play-In games begin Tuesday with the Brooklyn Nets (-8.5) hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers and the LA Clippers visiting the Minnesota Timberwolves (-2.5). Wednesday, the Atlanta Hawks (-4.5) host the Charlotte Hornets, and the San Antonio Spurs visit the New Orleans Pelicans (-5.5).

Brooklyn is particularly interesting because of their short odds and high ticket and handle percentages.

Yet, the Nets still need to win two games to clinch a playoff berth.

Injuries and drama have been the story in Brooklyn, but the one-two punch of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving has the attention of both oddsmakers and bettors.

Sticking in the Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks have the second shortest odds at BetMGM. The defending champions finished third in the conference behind the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.

Bettors backing the Golden State Warriors will be hoping point guard Steph Curry is ready to go after missing the final 12 games of the regular season with a foot injury. There’s also the reality that Curry could play at less than 100 percent.

It’s also worth noting that five of the seven teams with the lowest odds to win the NBA Championship are from the Eastern Conference, which is likely a result of how heavily bet the Suns have been.
