The World Series of Poker is adding a third U.S. state to its network pool with the launch of its new online platform ahead of its scheduled summer tournaments.

Poker players in the Michigan online casino scene will now join those in the New Jersey online casino community and Nevada. In a series sponsored by Caesars Entertainment, the World Series of Poker will add 30 online bracelet tournaments to those states.

“This platform upgrade is long overdue and is a big win for our players,” Danielle Barille, vice president of online poker at Caesars Digital, said. “The best is yet to come for WSOP Online tournaments, and we’re thrilled to bring Michigan players into the fold with Nevada and New Jersey, resulting in a better experience, more value, and the biggest prize pools of the year.”

The World Series of Poker could further grow its online poker community, as it's also legal in Delaware, the Pennsylvania online casino scene, and the West Virginia online casino scene.

Rebranding and new features

Formerly known as WSOP.com, the poker company rebranded itself as WSOP Online. It upgraded its technology to provide users with more options and tools while using the mobile app. It now allows for four-table capabilities, and new features include Omaha, multi-flight re-entry tournaments, in-app gift drops, and game derivatives.

There will also be new promotions and weekly tournaments.

Users in Nevada and New Jersey who were on the previous platform were able to pre-register for WSOP Online throughout the weekend. They'll need to download the new version of the app and create a new username, but existing balances, tournament tickets, and rewards points will transfer over and become available within 72 hours of launch.

This summer's schedule

The World Series of Poker celebrates 55 years in 2024, and the action begins May 28 in Las Vegas. As part of this year's event, players in Nevada, New Jersey, and Michigan will be able to compete online.

Beginning June 1 and running until July 21, competitions for an official WSOP gold bracelet will run on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Exclusively for mobile players, the site will host a $333 Triple Treys No Limit Hold'em event to celebrate the NBA Finals.

As well as the mobile events, there are also online qualifiers for in-person events. Some of those entry fees are as low as $1.

WSOP Online will also be home to five high-roller, hybrid-format events on June 10 and June 29. The final tables for those events will be held in Las Vegas in July.

On June 30 and July 3, there will be guaranteed 25-seat WSOP Main Event mega satellite events. There will also be a new $10,000 WSOP Online Championship on July 11.

The WSOP has provided poker players with championship tournaments since 1970 and has awarded more than $4 billion in prizes and gold bracelets. Last year, the event totaled 214,641 entrants from more than 114 different countries and awarded more than $403 million in prize money.
