The Texas State Bobcats get a rare opportunity to host a Power Four conference team on Thursday Night when the Arizona State Sun Devils of the Big 12 pay a visit.

This matchup is one of two college football games on Thursday, but it's the only one featuring two 2-0 teams.

My Arizona State vs. Texas State early leans and odds factors in that this is the first road contest of the season for the Sun Devils, and they'll head to Texas Tech next week to make it back-to-back away games.

Meanwhile, Texas State is coming off its first win in six all-time head-to-head meetings with UTSA, so it enters this affair with momentum.

We've since broken down this matchup in full in our Arizona State vs. Texas State prediction.

Moneyline

Arizona State is as short as a -130 moneyline favorite as DraftKings, while FanDuel is the biggest believer in the underdog Bobcats, instilling them as +102 home ‘dogs.

Spread

  • Arizona State best odds: -1.5 (-110) via FanDuel
  • Texas State best odds: +2.5 (-110) via BetMGM

Most of our best sports betting sites are at -2, and given that FanDuel is the only one with a smaller line, it is more likely that it moves with the rest of the market. It would likely take an exorbitant amount of money on the favorites to push this to the key number of -3 before kickoff.

Over/Under

  • Over best odds: 58.5 (-110) via BetMGM
  • Under best odds: 59.5 (-110) via FanDuel

FanDuel is the only best sports betting app not offering an O/U of 58.5. Considering both teams rank in the top five of their respective conferences in total yards and points per game, it is likely that the total will creep towards 60 points before kickoff.

Prediction: Texas State ML

Best odds: +110 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 47.62%

Bobcats head coach G.J. Kinne knows a thing or two about coaching offense, from reaching the FCS semifinals at Incarnate Word with an explosive offense, to improving the Bobcats from ranking 100th or worse in offensive SP+ for 10 consecutive years to 37th in his first year at the helm.

Texas State’s up-tempo attack (it played at a top-10 fastest pace last year) is a nightmare to prepare for, especially on a short week.

The Bobcats already dropped 49 points on a solid UTSA squad after cracking the 40-point threshold six times last year, and their fast tempo should frustrate a Sun Devils squad that was 2-4 in their last six non-conference games heading into the season.
