To help kick off our Week 2 college football predictions, Friday’s Duke (1-0) vs. Northwestern (1-0) matchup should teach bettors the importance of monitoring the weather.

Northwestern will play most of its home games at the Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium this season while its new stadium is being built. This temporary home offers a beautiful picturesque view of the lake, but the location is susceptible to heavy and unpredictable winds.

While Friday’s forecast currently calls for 20-mph winds, we understand that can always change while making our Duke vs. Northwestern player props at our best sports betting sites.

Jordan Moore Under 62.5 receiving yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Passing should be more difficult in windy conditions, but I like this prop even if the forecast proves to be more favorable.

Pro Football Focus gave Northwestern’s defensive front, which returned seven players, a pass rush grade of 74.5 in last week’s 13-6 win over Miami (OH). That could be a problem for a Duke offensive line with a 63.1 pass-blocking grade in a 26-3 victory over Elon.

If there isn’t as much time to throw, Moore will be limited in passing attack. That’s why his longest reception is trading at 22.5 at our best sportsbooks, despite recording a 47-yard catch in the opener.

I’m projecting him to finish with 49 yards, so this Under has plenty of value at 62.5 yards.

Maalik Murphy long completion Under 39.5 yards (-118) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Similar to the logic of the first pick, I’m not expecting many big plays from Duke on Friday. The wind and the offensive line could prevent that, as they did last week when Miami (OH) recorded only two explosive pass plays against Northwestern.

Blue Devils quarterback Murphy completed a 55-yard pass while finishing with 291 yards last week. It marked the second game in his career that he completed at least a 40-yard pass.

Among our best sports betting sites, ESPN BET is the lone shop offering markets for longest plays, such as runs, completions, and receptions. I will play this Under if the line is 37.5 or better.

Mike Wright Over 34.5 rushing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐

Northwestern quarterback Wright led the team in rushing during his first start. He finished with 65 yards and a touchdown on nine attempts, including a 20-yard scamper.

That will be a big part of Northwestern’s offensive game plan this year. Wright is a dynamic rushing threat, a trait his previous SEC teams (Vanderbilt and Mississippi State) leaned into when he was on the field. Wright has 1,294 rushing yards in his collegiate career.

This line doesn’t give Wright’s rushing ability enough respect, especially in a game that Northwestern can win. I’m projecting him to clear 40 yards for the Wildcats on Friday.
