After Notre Dame punched its ticket to the College Football Playoff final on Thursday, Ohio State beat Texas in Friday's second CFP semifinal and opens as the betting favorite to win the national championship by the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame opening odds.

The Buckeyes were prohibitive favorites by the college football national championship odds even before that 28-14 win over the Longhorns in the Cotton Bowl. They also opened as the early favorites to win next year's title atop the 2025-26 CFP national championship opening odds.

Here are the opening Ohio State vs. Notre Dame odds via FanDuel to win the national title on Monday, Jan. 20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta as Mike Spector makes his Ohio State vs. Notre Dame early picks.

Ohio State vs. Notre Dame odds

Here are the opening college football odds for the College Football Playoff National Championship from our best college football betting sites.

Moneyline

  • Ohio State best odds: -410 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 80.39%
  • Notre Dame best odds: +315 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 24.10%

Ohio State was minus-money to win the national title even before winning Friday's semifinal, so it's no surprise to see the Buckeyes dealing at -400 odds or shorter across our best sportsbooks. They've looked unstoppable in the CFP while taking down two of the best teams in the country in consecutive weeks.

Spread

  • Ohio State best odds: -9.5 (-110) via FanDuel
  • Notre Dame best odds: +9.5 (-110) via FanDuel

The Buckeyes were trading as 8.5-point favorites in the look-ahead lines before their win over Texas, which means even the best sports betting apps were impressed by what Ohio State did to the Longhorns on Friday. Notre Dame opened as the underdog against Georgia and closed as the 'dog against Penn State; it won both games in narrow fashion.

Over/Under

  • Over best odds: 46.5 (-105) via FanDuel
  • Under best odds: 46.5 (-115) via FanDuel

Ohio State and Notre Dame have both scored at least 23 points in each of their three playoff wins, but the best live betting sites are expecting one (or both) of these teams' elite defenses to step up in the title game. Texas scored a season-low 14 points in the Cotton Bowl against the Buckeyes, while the Fighting Irish limited Penn State to its third-worst total (24) in 16 games.
