Ohio State (11-2) and Oregon (13-0) meet for a second time this season in tonight's Rose Bowl. The College Football Playoff quarterfinal kicks off at 5 p.m. ET (ESPN) from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
Our Ohio State vs. Oregon prediction backs the underdogs as a part of our college bowl game predictions this week. Our best sportsbooks list the Buckeyes as 2.5-point favorites after losing to the Ducks last October.
While the winner of tonight's contest would still have to win two more games to claim the national title, this could be the most difficult challenge for either team. Our Brendan Schaeffer highlights a few key players who could impact the result in his Ohio State vs. Oregon player props.

Ohio State vs. Oregon ATS prediction
Oregon to cover the spread: +2.5 ⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: -110 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 52.38%
I have one rule for betting on College Football Playoff games: trust the team with the edge in the trenches. Line play is consistently the most important aspect of the game when the stakes are highest.
That could be bad news for the Buckeyes. They have a banged up offensive line between Josh Simmons and Seth McLaughlin being out, while Zen Michalski has entered the portal.
The Ducks rank fifth in the country in pass-rush grade (PFF), so they can make life difficult for OSU quarterback Will Howard. Oregon’s offensive line is also trustworthy, ranking in the top 30 in both run-blocking and pass-blocking grades.
Dan Lanning’s team has been my favorite college football championship odds pick since January. I’m backing the Ducks off a bye in their most important contest in years.

Jeremiah Smith anytime touchdown ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: +100 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 50%
Oregon’s defensive line should decide this game, but Ohio State won’t be stopped entirely on Wednesday. The Buckeyes have too many weapons, including freshman receiver Jeremiah Smith.
Smith caught nine passes for 100 yards and a touchdown against Oregon when these teams met earlier in the season. Smith admitted that he’s a better receiver today than he was in that game, a statement that would typically seem bold if he hadn’t just scored two touchdowns against Tennessee.
Smith has scored 12 touchdowns this season, shredding any cornerback that attempts to defend him one-on-one. His chances of scoring a touchdown are better than a coin-flip, particularly since this could be a high-scoring affair.

Ohio State vs. Oregon odds movement
Ohio State was favored by a field goal when these teams met back in October. Despite the result, the Buckeyes opened as 1.5-point favorites for the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at BetMGM. The spread hasn't shifted heavily in one direction or the other, but public money has seen Ohio State grow to a 2.5-point favorite ahead of kickoff.
