The UNLV Rebels will look to improve to 5-0 when they host the Syracuse Orange on Friday night.

Hajj-Malik Williams will be under center for the Rebels for the second week in a row after the departure of Matthew Sluka. So, how will the quarterback change affect our best Syracuse vs. UNLV prediction?

The Orange are 3-1, with their sole loss coming at home against the Stanford Cardinal. This will be their first road contest of the season. Can their defense, which has allowed an average of 25 points per game against FBS competition, slow the Rebels down?

The below picks are part of our comprehensive college football Week 6 predictions

Life after Sluka

The Rebels got off to a red-hot start this season behind Sluka's quarterback play. After NIL issues, Sluka elected to take a redshirt year and leave the UNLV program. Williams took over at quarterback, and the Rebels haven't missed a beat.

Against the Fresno State Bulldogs, Williams threw for 182 yards and three touchdowns. He added 119 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

The Rebels aren’t all that much different on the offensive end with Williams at quarterback than they were with Sluka. Williams is athletic, and his running ability makes this unit very dangerous.

McCord ball protection

The Orange have put up the 24th-most yards per game in the nation.

Behind Kyle McCord, the team has the third-most passing yards in the country. While this could propel them to victory over a Rebels’ defense allowing 226.0 passing yards per game, interceptions have been an issue for McCord. He’s thrown five this season, including two ugly picks against Holy Cross last week.

The Rebels are averaging 2.7 takeaways per game, the fifth-best in the country.

McCord has been careless with the ball, which will be why his team loses on Friday. Despite that, I’m making this a three-star play instead of four as 6.5 points is a lot considering how prolific both offenses can be.

Syracuse vs. UNLV prop pick for Week 6

Our NEW college football player prop odds tool can help you find the best odds on any market across legal sportsbooks in your area!

Kyle McCord Over 302.5 passing yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

McCord has thrown for at least 339 yards in all four of his starts this season.

There is no reason not to take this until he stops throwing the ball with great success. Last week, the Rebels allowed 316 yards to Fresno State’s Mikey Keene. They rank 73rd in the nation in passing yards allowed, and they haven’t faced anyone as talented as McCord.

Totals range from 302.5 to 312.5 for this prop.

The best price available is -114 from FanDuel. However, their total is set at 307.5. For a similar price, take the 302.5 yards threshold at BetMGM.

This number is going to rise across the board, so get in as soon as possible.

Our Rob Paul is a little less optimistic about McCord's successor in Columbus as part of his college football Week 6 expert picks.
