UCLA vs. Washington Prediction, Tonight: Week 12 Picks & Odds

Two former Pac-12 rivals meet on Friday at 9 p.m. ET (FOX) in a Big Ten conference game between UCLA and Washington.
- Our UCLA vs. Washington prediction expects DeShaun Foster's team's strong play to continue on the road
- Both teams are on the hunt for bowl eligibility with the Huskies needing one more win and the Bruins needing two
- Despite being a college football championship odds contender last season, Washington is just 5-5 in Jedd Fisch's first year as head coach
In the biggest weeknight game of our Week 12 college football predictions, UCLA is a 3.5-point road underdog at Husky Stadium in Seattle.
UCLA vs. Washington odds movement
Washington opened as a 3.5-point favorite with the line seeing minimal movement throughout the week. The Huskies are -4 as kickoff approaches.
However, UCLA has 54% of the money on it covering, with 46% backing Washington. Meanwhile, 55% of the money is on the Over, with the game total hovering around 46.5.

- UCLA: +3.5 (-110 via BetMGM)
- Washington: -3.5 (-110 via BetMGM)
UCLA’s resurgent quarterback play
Through UCLA’s 1-5 start to the season, quarterback Ethan Garbers had a 4-9 TD-INT ratio, completed 60.1% of his passes, and only had one game with a QBR better than 56.8 in that span.
Amid the Bruins’ three-game winning streak, Garbers has an 8-2 TD-INT ratio, completed 72.2% of his passes, and has two games with a QBR of 94.4 or higher.
That torrid stretch moved him up to sixth among Big Ten quarterbacks in QBR (71.5), and has UCLA on the cusp of bowl eligibility in head coach DeShaun Foster’s first season.
Bruins stopping the run
UCLA linebacker Carson Schwesinger is the poster child for the Bruins’ improved defense, as he won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors for his two-interception game against Iowa last week.
Schwesinger leads the conference in tackles per game (10.2), solo tackles (59) and solo tackles per game (6.2).
He is a big reason the Bruins rank seventh nationally (and top-three in the conference) in rushing yards allowed per game (98.1). UCLA is also coming off an upset of Iowa, where it limited the Big Ten’s best rushing team to a season-low 80 yards on the ground.
UCLA should have a big advantage on third downs
UCLA has converted 41.4% of its third-down opportunities, ranking 57th among FBS teams. Meanwhile, Washington ranks 98th with a 37% third-down conversion rate and is 90th in defensive third-down success rate (41.6%).
This game has some of the best two-way action of the week, as the line has not budged off of 3.5 points at BetMGM or bet365 at all. However, there is plenty of support on the underdogs, as every time the line ticked up to +4 or +4.5 (it only got as high as 4.5 at FanDuel), UCLA backers drove it down to its original number of 3.5.
Through BetMGM’s -110 odds, a $10 winning wager would pay out $19.09.
Best odds: -110 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 52.38%

Ethan Garbers Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (+120) ⭐⭐⭐
Four of Garbers’ nine career games with multiple touchdown passes have come this season, and his current three-game streak with two or more touchdown passes is the longest of his career.
Garbers’ eight touchdown passes over the last three games are his most in any three-game span in his career. He started a three-game winning streak by becoming the second Bruins quarterback in school history to complete at least 30 passes with a completion percentage of 80% or better in an upset win over Rutgers.
I am backing this play largely because of the plus-money odds, as Washington ranks fifth in the nation in Passing Efficiency Defense, and 24th in red zone defense.
FanDuel is very generous with its +120 odds to back the Over, as Caesars is charging a price of -103 for Garbers to throw two or more touchdowns.
Best odds: +120 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 45.45%
