We're banking on a few outcomes lining up here. Lindor needs to get at least two at-bats, and as we noted in our MLB All-Star Game predictions, most starters received at least two at-bats last year. And we also want one of those appearances to please oh please not come against Tarik Skubal, the Cy Young odds front-runner in the AL.

It doesn't get much easier after Skubal, with the likes of Garrett Crochet, Hunter Brown, or Jacob deGrom possibly up next for the AL. But avoiding Skubal alone is significant to cash in on a rare opportunity to get plus-money odds in the "to record a hit" market. Lindor is hitting toward the bottom of the National League's batting order in seventh, and Skubal will likely be gone before he takes his second hacks.

The alluring price from one of our best sports betting sites is clearly rooted in the lack of opportunity compared to a typical game, when Lindor would usually be getting four or five plate appearances. But there's appeal here nonetheless, as despite all his fireballing ways, Brown has given up 10 earned runs over his last two starts, and Crochet has allowed eight or more hits in two of his last three outings.

Lindor is also posting an .820 OPS against righties like Brown and DeGrom, as opposed to a .696 against lefties.

⚾ Best Byron Buxton prop pick: To hit a home run ⭐⭐

📊 Best odds: +900 via Caesars ($10 to win $90)

Let's use similar thinking here.

Buxton, who's fresh off putting on a show during the Home Run Derby last night, isn't among the starters for our MLB All-Star Game player props. Again, there's no avoiding immense heat and baffling breaking balls in this game. But Buxton will probably miss the very top of the National League's pitching staff while likely entering more toward the middle innings.

That makes him the ideal target if you're searching for a long-shot home run pick at these +900 odds from Caesars. A mashing outfielder whose 55.3% hard-hit rate rests in the top 4% leaguewide while contributing to his 21 homers (tied for 12th) will probably get a few chances to cash a juicy $90 payout for you on a $10 bet.

⚾ Best Paul Skenes prop pick: First pitch velocity between 98.0 and 98.9 mph ⭐⭐⭐

📊 Best odds: +125 via FanDuel ($10 to win $12.50)

Our best MLB betting sites aren't taking an exhibition game too seriously while offering a handful of unique and fun markets. You should follow that lead and sprinkle a little on one for a recreational play too, adding that much more entertainment to a star-filled night.

And let's make the smoke coming from Paul Skenes right away off the first pitch the focus.

Skenes will begin the night facing Detroit Tigers infielder Gleyber Torres. If this were an actual game that carried actual meaning tied to the result, Skenes might not give Torres the full force of his patented fireball, despite his average fastball velocity of 98.1 mph resting in the 95th percentile leaguewide, according to Baseball Savant. Torres thrives against smoke while sporting a .339 batting average when facing a fastball, with a .532 slugging. Those numbers plummet to .182 and .250, respectively, against breaking pitches.

But this isn't a real game with meaning in the standings. There's still pride involved, and Skenes has little desire to get taken deep of course. But bet on the human element, and a power pitcher wanting to show off that part of his arsenal on a night built for exactly that approach.
