The Houston Astros (53-35) look to clinch a series victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers (57-32) tonight on the heels of an 18-1 victory last night. But Los Angeles is as high as a -145 betting favorite with Shohei Ohtani on the mound, according to our best sports betting sites. We look away from the winners and losers as we make our Astros vs. Dodgers prediction, which expects a Houston batter to continue to rake.

Smith entered Friday’s series opener batting .417 with eight extra-base hits and 15 RBIs in the previous 15 games. He added to those numbers with a 2-for-6 day, including another double yesterday. That is why I am eschewing his disrespectful O/U of 0.5 total bases, and targeting his alternate total bases prop while using a bet365 bonus code.

Smith’s props are likely underinflated due to Shohei Ohtani toeing the rubber. But Ohtani has only thrown four innings across three starts this year, and has yet to throw more than 28 pitches.

The Dodgers have allowed 16 runs combined over Ohtani’s last two outings. And while Dodgers relievers lead the majors with 12 wins since June 1, they also rank in the bottom 10 in ERA, xFIP, and BABIP in that span.

Smith has shown his versatility while batting .290 or better against both left-handed and right-handed pitchers. He ranks in the top third of the league in barrels and in the 86th percentile in hard-hit rate, making him a great bet to go over this projected total for the eighth time in the last nine games.

As such, bet365’s +155 odds for Smith to record at least two total bases are a steal compared to DraftKings’ +135 odds that would pay out a full $2 less ($13.50 compared to $15.50) on a winning $10 wager. I would also not put anyone off backing Smith to go over this projected total by recording two-plus hits at bet365’s +325 odds, considering he has seven multi-hit games in his last eight.
