You'll notice I have two strikeout Overs and outs Unders on the same pitchers - Bubic and Robbie Ray. It's the same principle for both, so let's focus on Bubic since his game is first.

Bubic could very well record five strikeouts in fewer than six innings. He's averaging 8.81 strikeouts per nine, which equates to around 5.87 per six innings. Therefore, there's a high likelihood he could record five-plus punchouts by simply pitching into the sixth, which is exactly what his projections suggest.

The southpaw is projected for 5.46 innings and 6.09 strikeouts, with the latter well above the 4.5 listed total.

I know making two bets like this doesn't feel great because you're both fading and backing a pitcher, but it's important to remember the two aren't mutually exclusive. If Bubic and Ray both go six-plus innings and record only four or fewer strikeouts, then so be it. But the math and my baseball brain tell me that we can comfortably make both bets simultaneously.
