It's never too early to bet on the World Series champions, especially when it seems like the Los Angeles Dodgers add a new superstar to their roster every week. With little surprise, the Dodgers top our early World Series predictions.

As expected, the mighty Dodgers are the heavy favorites to win the 2025 Fall Classic, with last year's victim, the New York Yankees, sitting in a distant second by the latest World Series odds.

We wouldn't dare to bet against the Dodgers with our early World Series picks, but we are offering two alternative picks for those looking to fade the new heels of MLB.

This was actually the first - and thus far, only - MLB futures bet I made this offseason. This Dodgers team is just truly ridiculous, and I couldn't hold out any longer.

I had a bit of a hard time deciding between the trio of NL East contenders, but I think the Phillies are the best combo of talent and value.

They've quietly improved the team during the offseason and are coming off another dominant regular-season campaign.

I believe this team is built to compete in the playoffs despite the shortcomings of the last two years, and if I'm going to bet against the powerhouse Dodgers, it'll be to back the Phillies.

World Series long-shot pick: Mariners

If it looks like a trap, feels like a trap, and is perennially a trap, then it's probably a trap. And yet, I can't quite quit the Seattle Mariners.

The Mariners' offense was incredibly bad in 2024, to the point that I don't even think it's remotely sustainable. I'm looking for positive regression to hit this ballclub like a truck.

Additionally, Seattle has, for my money, the best five-man starting rotation in the American League, and you could make an argument it's the best in baseball.

However, as we saw last year, the real struggle for this team is simply making the postseason. If the Mariners can manage to not strike out in nearly 27% of their plate appearances again and record base hits at a rate that's not the second worst in the league, the pitching should do the rest of the heavy lifting.

And if Seattle qualifies for the postseason, a lot of teams in the AL will hope they're not matched up against the Mariners.
