The Los Angeles Dodgers (45-29) and San Diego Padres (39-33) combined for 23 runs in the first two games of this midweek series. Our Padres vs. Dodgers predictions, odds, and best bets expect another high-scoring affair when the rivals meet tonight (10:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network) at Dodger Stadium in L.A.

These teams' lineups have put on a show through the first two games of this series, and I don't expect the two starters on the mound tonight to quell that.

Stephen Kolek (3-2, 3.50 ERA) has done a remarkable job holding down the back end of the Padres' rotation, mostly while suppressing hard contact with his mid-90s fastball and cutter. But he's been crushed when hitters connect, and his inability to miss bats is an issue against the Dodgers' death lineup.

Meanwhile, Emmet Sheehan makes his long-awaited debut after missing all of last season following Tommy John surgery. He wasn't exactly lighting it up the year before his injury (4.92 ERA), and he ceded four runs in 3 1/3 innings during Sheehan's final rehab start before getting tossed out against the Padres tonight.

I don't expect Sheehan to last long during his first game action in almost two years, and fading his strikeout total (3.5) feels like the best way to play that. But my favorite bet still remains the full-game Over, which I'd play up to 10.
