Phillies vs. Padres Prediction, Odds & Best Bets: Will Philadelphia Avoid The Sweep?

Last Updated: July 13, 2025 9:07 AM EDT • 4 minute read X Social Google News Link

The Philadelphia Phillies (54-41) have only been swept once in their last 10 series, but are on the verge of that fate against the San Diego Padres (52-43) at Petco Park today, with first pitch scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET.
San Diego is looking for its fourth straight win in four days as home underdogs (it is a +110 home 'dog at our best sports betting sites) as we make our Phillies vs. Padres prediction.
With the MLB All-Star Game festivities taking place next week, we turn to arguably the biggest All-Star snub as part of our Phillies vs. Padres best bets.
- Phillies vs. Padres prediction: Phillies to win (-130 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Best Phillies vs. Padres player props: Manny Machado or Kyle Schwarber- either player to hit a home run (+135 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I expect Philadelphia southpaw Cristopher Sanchez to be extra motivated this afternoon because of his All-Star snub. He is the main backdrop of my Phillies vs. Padres prediction.
ESPN’s Paul Hembekides explained it best on X, as Sanchez has a better bWAR, ERA, FIP, and OPS allowed than the average NL starting pitcher.
Sanchez has seven consecutive quality starts since the calendar turned to June. He should again have great success against a Padres lineup that he has limited to a combined .197/.209/.299 slash line.
The Padres also had difficulty elevating Sanchez’s pitches in a 5-1 loss at Citizens Bank Park two weeks ago, as the southpaw induced a season-best 4:1 ground ball to fly ball ratio.
The Phillies also own the second-best record in the majors against right-handed starting pitchers (43-25). They should hit for more power than the Padres, who entered yesterday’s game with a team .124 ISO over the last two weeks.
Philadelphia is just 1-9 in its last 10 road games against teams with a winning record, but I still have confidence in my Phillies vs. Padres best bet.

💰 Best Phillies vs. Padres player props
✅ Best Phillies vs. Padres player prop: Manny Machado or Kyle Schwaber to hit a home run (+135 via DraftKings)
Each product featured on our website has been meticulously researched and selected by our team of experts. If you sign up through our links, we may get a commission.
Schwarber has already clinched his fifth straight 30-home run season and is the sixth active player with seven career seasons of 30 or more home runs.
Schwarber has homered in three of the last four games, while Machado has four home runs in the last eight. That matched his total from the previous 24 games, and he is closing in on his fifth consecutive season of 20-plus home runs.
Schwarber and Machado have two of the three shortest home run odds of all players in this game, so we are still getting tremendous value with these +135 odds for either player to hit one. A $10 winning wager would pay out $13.50 in profits.

What is the run line in baseball?
The run line in baseball is a form of point spread betting unique to MLB. It typically sets a standard spread of 1.5 runs, meaning the favored team must win by at least two runs to cover the run line, while the underdog can lose by one run or win outright to cover.

The moneyline in betting refers to a wager on which team or player will win the game outright, with no point spread involved. It’s the most straightforward type of sports bet—just pick the winner.
