Boston hasn't lost back-to-back games in their last 17 outings. However, Chicago has also won five straight as home favorites in interleague matchups, and I expect the hosts to roll to another comfortable win in my Red Sox vs. Cubs prediction.

Perhaps the All-Star break cooled down the Red Sox, who had averaged 7.1 runs per game, pitched to a 2.46 team ERA, and owned a plus-51 run differential in the 13 games leading up to the break.

Sharps clearly sided with the Cubs in spite of Boston’s 10-game winning streak to open the series, as Chicago went from -120 moneyline favorites to -135 at first pitch. It's not hard to figure out why, either, as the Cubs entered the series ranked second in runs per game, third in defensive runs saved, third in home runs, third in stolen bases, and sixth in bullpen ERA.

Chicago’s biggest perceived weakness was its 18th-ranked starting pitching ERA (4.06). But that weakness is mitigated by today’s starter, Shota Imanaga, who has pitched to a 2.34 ERA in four starts since coming off the IL.
