Favorite in MLB race to 10 wins

Los Angeles Dodgers (+270)

The Dodgers are the heavy favorites in this market for two main reasons.

The first, and more obvious reason, is that they're the best team in baseball. The Dodgers are projected to win the most games this season by our MLB win total odds and signed one of the favorites by the MLB Rookie of the Year odds. And, of course, they added the best player in baseball, who we discussed more in our Shohei Ohtani odds for 2024. So, yes, the Dodgers were always going to be the favorites in this market.

However, reason No. 2 is why they're such short favorites rather than trading around +700.

One week before the MLB regular season gets underway in earnest, the Dodgers will square off against the San Diego Padres in Seoul, South Korea. Therefore, in theory, either the Dodgers or Padres could get a two-win head start over the rest of the field (this is also why the Padres are the second-biggest favorites despite having a season-long projected win total of only 81.5).

Following the Seoul miniseries, the Dodgers host the St. Louis Cardinals for four games and also host the San Francisco Giants for three games before getting a day off. They follow those series with two separate three-game road sets against the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins before their next day off. That means the Dodgers are set to play 15 games by the time the second real travel day on April 11 rolls around.

Favorite to be MLB last team to lose

Baltimore Orioles (+750)

The reigning American League East champions headline DraftKings' last team to lose market, though there's a far smaller gap between them and the rest of the field compared to the sportsbook's odds for the race to 10 wins.

The Orioles, who also feature multiple contenders by the MLB MVP odds, as well as a Rookie of the Year and an MLB Cy Young odds favorite, are trading as the front-runners to be the last team to lose.

Baltimore kicks off the campaign at home against the Los Angeles Angels but then doesn't play on the second day of the season, which, of course, helps the Orioles' chances of being the last team to lose.

The Orioles then continue their homestand against the Angels on March 30 and 31 before remaining in Baltimore to host the Kansas City Royals.

Between that early off-day and the fact the Orioles host two teams with projected win totals in the bottom six of the entire league, it makes sense that DraftKings prices them as the favorites in this market.

MLB 5-0 start odds

(Odds as of March 6)

DraftKings
Any team to start 5-0Yes (-250)/No (+200)

Only one team started the 2023 MLB campaign with a 5-0 record, and that was the Tampa Bay Rays. The AL East contenders started the season with one of the easiest schedules in recent memory, hosting the Detroit Tigers for three games before battling the Washington Nationals and Oakland Athletics for three more games apiece.

MLB 10-0 start odds

(Odds as of March 6)

DraftKings
Any team to start 10-0Yes (+800)/No (-1600)

As previously mentioned, the Rays started last season with a 5-0 record, but they didn't stop there. In fact, Tampa Bay won 13 straight games to kick off the campaign before finally falling to the Blue Jays in Toronto.

If you think there's a team this year that can get off to a similarly scorching-hot run, these +800 odds are begging to be bet on.
