2024 Brickyard 400 Odds: NASCAR Expert Picks, Preview for Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The NASCAR Cup Series returns to oval racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time in four years to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the inaugural Brickyard 400, and we're looking at the odds at our best sports betting sites.
Tyler Reddick is looking to improve his position in the NASCAR Cup Series championship odds on Sunday, and he's in a good spot to do so. Reddick captured the pole and serves as one of the favorites to win the Brickyard 400.
He'll have to fend off a talented group of drivers, though, including Cup Series championship favorite Denny Hamlin, who serves as the favorite to win Sunday. Along with Hamlin and Reddick, Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson are atop the oddsboard, with William Byron following closely behind.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway track analysis
Indianapolis Motor Speedway is best known for hosting the Indianapolis 500, the premier event in the IndyCar Series. But this 115-year-old track is one of the most beloved stops on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit, too.
At 2.5 miles, the track shares similarities to last week's venue with its long straightaways and tight corners that demand precision driving and proper tire and fuel maintenance. Unlike the tri-oval of Pocono Raceway, "The Brickyard" features a perfect paperclip layout with 9.2 degrees of banking on each corner.
While the original foundation for this track was entirely brick, it's been fully paved over since 1961 - save for a one-yard strip at the start/finish line. That storied brick row has been elusive for novice drivers to cross first, as all but five winners of this race have won a Cup Series championship ahead of the first Brickyard 400 since 2020.
Weather forecast for Indianapolis Motor Speedway
At long last, it looks like Mother Nature will spare NASCAR fans ahead of Sunday's Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Heading into the weekend, the latest weather forecast via AccuWeather.com calls for clear skies on Sunday with a high of 84 degrees and a low of 67 degrees. Crucially, there's just a 16% chance of precipitation in the afternoon when the race is set to get underway.
Of course, that could change between now and race day, as we've seen in recent weeks. But as of now, we should be all set for a rain-free event on Sunday.
Brickyard 400 predictions, race preview
Picks made Friday at 1 p.m. ET prior to practice or qualifying. Odds listed below may vary from the latest prices above.
This is a race that demands excellence from drivers, teams, and pit crews alike. That's why I wouldn't stray too far from the top names on Sunday.
Denny Hamlin (+500) is the rightful favorite given his excellence on tracks similar to this, though it's tough to lay such short odds on a driver who's never won here in 15 tries and only started on the front row once. He'd effectively need to win the pole (or come close) to justify these pre-qualifying odds, which are too short for my liking.
Kyle Larson (+700) has never finished better than fifth in six oval races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, but that all came before his switch to Hendrick Motorsports ahead of his 2021 championship season. That's a big deal, as HMS has treated Indy like its own personal playground - winning this race a record 10 times overall and seven of the last 17 tries.
Larson also spent much of the last year preparing for this track ahead of the Indy 500. While open-wheel racing and stock-car racing aren't the same, I have to think that extra preparation and experience on the track will give Larson an edge coming into this weekend.
On a related note, I really like Chevrolet to win (+210) this week. The manufacturer placed two in the top four last week at Pocono, and it features three of the top six this week in Larson, Chase Elliott (+1100), and William Byron (+1300) - all teammates at Hendrick Motorsports.
With HMS dealing as short as +200 to win, I'm shocked to see Chevy at +210 odds considering the latter bet includes 15 drivers in total. That group features those first three as well as Alex Bowman (+3100), Ross Chastain (+3700), and two-time winner Kyle Busch (+3400). As always, it pays to shop around!
Speaking of Bowman, he's my favorite long shot at 31/1 via FanDuel. He won the Chicago Street race two weeks ago and finished third last week at Pocono, a track with a lot of similarities to Indianapolis. Bowman qualified third in the last oval race here in 2020, and there's an elite team behind him, which isn't common for a driver with such long odds.
I'd be remiss if I didn't spotlight Martin Truex Jr. (+1400), who's still seeking his first win of the season. He was one of the fastest drivers on the track last week despite an eighth-place finish, and I'm surprised to see this rogue price at DraftKings, with Truex dealing between +900 and +1200 elsewhere.
