Nathan Rourke comes back tonight for the BC Lions, and his return is massive ahead of the team's clash with the Montreal Alouettes. But our Lions vs. Alouettes prediction believes the road team can rise up at Percival Memorial Stadium in Montreal at 7 p.m. ET (TSN/RDS, CTV, CBSSN), despite Montreal leading the Grey Cup odds.

With CFL Most Outstanding Player odds favorite Davis Alexander still out for Montreal, the Als could be in rough shape after putting up just 17 points last week against the lowly Hamilton Tiger-Cats defense. While McLeod Bethel-Thompson is an experienced backup, the offense looked discombobulated without its star. To make matters worse, Austin Mack is out for the Als, too.
Meanwhile, the Lions get Rourke back, and he'll have his whole arsenal of playmakers with both Keon Hatcher and Stanley Berryhill III set to play alongside Justin McInnis and Jevon Cottoy. I've got BC taking this 27-24.
💰 Lions vs. Alouettes prediction & CFL best bet

🦁 Lions +2.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📊 Best odds: -105 via DraftKings ($10 pays $9.52)
Although the Lions are in good shape to pull off the upset win, the -105 odds for them to cover as underdogs are the safer play given the uncertainty around how Rourke will look after missing the last two weeks with a core injury. With that said, the 2022 Most Outstanding Canadian was an unstoppable force in the season opener when he threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns.
If Rourke can even play half as well as he did Week 1, with his top-notch wide receiver corps, that should be enough for the Lions. The Alouettes scored only seven points in the first three quarters last week against the Tiger-Cats with Bethel-Thompson at QB, who was just 24-for-41 with two interceptions in the game.
The Lions defense isn't elite, but it's certainly better than Hamilton's this season. BC is allowing the second-fewest yards per game (324.2) and has only played legitimate contenders through three games - the Winnipeg Blue Bombers twice and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. This game should come down to which QB is more efficient, and I'm taking Rourke in his return.
👀 Star player prop to watch

🪽 Tyson Philpot Over 5.5 receptions ⭐⭐⭐
📊 Best odds: +100 via DraftKings ($10 pays $10)

There are a couple of different wide receiver player props to consider for this matchup, but with the return of Rourke, it's hard to gauge which of his star receivers he'll favor between Hatcher and McInnis. Instead, the even-money odds on Tyson Philpot's receptions stand out as the best value play.
The Canadian leads the CFL in receptions (21) and if Montreal hopes to bounce back this week without Alexander, McLeod Bethel-Thompson will need to look Philpot's way early and often. Don't count out Jason Maas scheming a few receptions Philpot's way either.
Given that both Hatcher and McInnis' odds to go Over 4.5 receptions are listed at -155, I much prefer backing Philpot. However, I would avoid taking the Over on Philpot with odds any shorter than -105.
