This is the second time these two teams have played this season, and the first was an ugly result for the Elks.

BC smashed Edmonton like a transport truck plowing through a deer on the Trans-Canada Highway, with Rourke making their defense look less lively than roadkill. The former Ohio star cooked Edmonton to the tune of 324 yards and three scores. The performance had him leading the CFL Most Outstanding Player odds heading into Week 2.

This should be a similar outing with the way Edmonton has been struggling this year. I have BC taking this one 34-27.

Rourke managed to lead the Lions to a 21-20 road win against the Montreal Alouettes as an underdog in his return from injury last week. He threw for over 350 yards against one of the league's top defenses, with his loaded receiving corps featuring Justin McInnis looking unstoppable. So, how is this Elks defense going to slow down Buck Pierce's pass-happy offense?

The Elks are allowing the most points per game in the CFL (34.5) and by far the most yards (425.8). Edmonton's defense has been so bad that its best performance this year was actually in Week 1 when Rourke and the Lions put up just 31 points. Since then, the Elks have given up 33-plus points in every game.

Even with Ford being a dynamic QB, he faces a nearly impossible time keeping up with Rourke and Co. The Lions' defense is one of the CFL's best this season while allowing the fewest yards per game (321.8). Between Rourke's level of play and the Elks' defensive struggles, Edmonton will likely need to score 30-plus points to cover as an underdog. But the Elks are just 1-3 against the spread this season.

While this is a high number to bet the Over on ahead of Sunday's clash, Rourke has thrown for 324 and 352 yards during his two complete games this season. Pierce's offense leans heavily on the passing game, and the Lions boast arguably the CFL's best wide receiver corps. That should help him throw for at least 318 yards this week.

Edmonton is allowing the most passing yards per game in the league (323.2), giving up the highest QB rating (131.1), has permitted the most touchdown passes (11), and the Elks are the only team yet to intercept a pass. So why wouldn't the Lions want Rourke throwing early and often?
