The rebuild in the capital has hit a snag in Bob Dyce's third full season as the Redblacks' head coach. After a stellar Week 1 performance from QB Dru Brown ended in a loss and a hip injury for Ottawa's trigger man, the Redblacks were steamrolled in Week 2 by the Montreal Alouettes. This could be a similar outcome for Ottawa with Brown out again and Dustin Crum slated to start.

Weather could also be a potential issue, with rain in the forecast, which favors a Stampeders team that boasts a top running back in Dedrick Mills and a mobile quarterback in Vernon Adams Jr. I have Calgary winning this one at home, 27-20.

After back-to-back down years in Cowtown, Dave Dickenson said enough and finally brought in a QB with the potential to be a CFL Most Outstanding Player odds contender. Adams has not disappointed in two starts for the Stamps, with the former Oregon Ducks QB throwing for the second-most yards through the first two weeks of the season (585).

Even with receiver Reggie Begelton out for Calgary, Adams and Co. should torch this Ottawa defense. The Redblacks are allowing the most points per game in the league (35.0) to go along with 402.5 yards per game. Between Adams, Mills, and Jalen Philpot, there's just too much on the Stampeders' offense for Ottawa to handle.

And while Crum's mobility gives the Redblacks a little more to work with than last week's starting QB, Matthew Shiltz, Ottawa is 3-13-1 in games Crum has thrown 10-plus passes.

Calgary's improved defense should have a field day against him.

One of the best running backs in the CFL, Mills was second in the league in rushing yards (122) through the first two weeks of the season and first in rushing touchdowns (4) - he's the only running back in the CFL with more than one score on the ground this season.

The former Nebraska Cornhusker and Garden City Community College star has rushed for 55-plus yards in six of his last nine games, and can exploit an Ottawa defense that's allowing 94 yards per game on the ground. If it does rain, that should only help Mills.
