One of the most important races of the Cup Series calendar begins Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. ET, as we examine the latest NASCAR odds at Daytona and offer our 2024 Coke Zero Sugar 400 expert picks and predictions.

Denny Hamlin enters raceday as the consensus favorite to win Saturday's 400-mile race and bolster his NASCAR Cup Series championship odds, which took a hit this week after an L2-level penalty for an engine violation from Bristol.

With the treacherous nature of Daytona, though, no driver is dealing at shorter than +1200 odds across our best sports betting sites in what could be one of the most dramatic finishes of the entire season.

How to bet NASCAR at Daytona

Let's get the obvious out of the way: this is simply not a race to bet the favorite.

With high speeds and an even higher propensity for big crashes that sweep up half the field, there's a reason nobody is dealing at shorter than +1200 odds to win tonight's race at Daytona. And it's why we're taking the wide view with our bet slip.

Ford's playground

Each of the top six spots in the starting grid belong to Ford, which won last year's summer race at Daytona and has produced five of the last 10 winners.

That isn't a mere coincidence: the key to winning at Daytona isn't just speed but also navigating the pack on this drafting-heavy course. That often means relying on teammates to help create drag and save on fuel in this 400-mile race, which is where Ford excels.

Last year, Ford claimed nine of the top 12 spots in qualifying and ended up with the top three drivers - Buescher, Brad Keselowski, and Aric Almirola - in the final stage. It's risky to lay short odds on any one of the favorites, but I love Ford's chances of repeating on the whole.

Logano, Reddick look to stay hot

Joey Logano should have picked up his second win of the season two weeks ago but Austin Dillon spun him out. Alas, he qualified third for this race after securing pole position in February's Daytona 500 and the duel a few days earlier.

He was swept up in a big accident in the spring race at Daytona, but he led 45 laps in that one and finished in the top five in both races at this track last year. With the speed he's shown of late, Logano should be in the mix until the very end ... barring a crash, of course.

It's a similar story for Tyler Reddick, who has been on an absolute heater of late. He won last week's race at Michigan and has finished in the top 10 in 10 of his last 11 races, including seven straight.

He also won the last superspeedway race at Talladega, when Michael McDowell and Keselowski were tangled up late and Reddick zoomed past for his first win of the season. He finished second in the Daytona summer race two years ago and has a chance to secure the regular-season crown with a strong showing tonight.

Can Front Row live up to its name?

Front Row Motorsports made history in qualifying, when it secured its first front-row sweep in nearly two decades in the Cup Series.

This small racing team has won just four times, but two of them came at superspeedways, including a win by McDowell in the 2021 Daytona 500. He was the fastest car on the track on Friday - just ahead of teammate Todd Gilliland, who will start second alongside McDowell for tonight's race.

A first-time winner has taken the checkered flag in five of the last 10 summer races at Daytona, most recently when Dillon bumped Almirola on the last lap (sound familiar?) to win the race. Just last year, Buescher and Keselowski secured 1-2 as teammates at RFK Racing.

I'd be shocked if both McDowell and Gilliland finish in the top two, but with McDowell dealing as short as 15/1, I love these long-shot odds (+1400) on one of the two securing their first win of the season and punching a ticket to the postseason.

Best long shots at Daytona

Whether you're a longtime racing veteran or new to the sport, the Daytona summer race is one of the most enjoyable to bet because of the volatility of this track and the elevated stakes with the postseason around the corner.

That's a perfect recipe for a long-shot winner, which has become somewhat common on superspeedways. We saw Daniel Suarez cash as a 30/1 underdog at Atlanta earlier this year, and McDowell nearly pulled off a similar feat at Talladega before crashing on the final lap.

I like those drivers' chances in tonight's race, too. Suarez (+6000) won at Atlanta earlier this year in an all-time finish, and he was third in stage two in each of the last two points races at Daytona. With a win already under his belt, he can afford to be aggressive without much to lose in terms of playoff positioning.

McDowell (+2100) has been blisteringly fast in qualifying at superspeedways this year, and he probably should have won the last drafting race at Talladega. He'll be in the best position to chase another win tonight, and Gilliland (+4000) will be right there with him after qualifying well at superspeedways all season long.

If you're looking for an ultra-long shot, keep an eye on Zane Smith (+8500). He's raced twice at Daytona to a pair of 13th-place finishes, and he has two wins at this track in the Truck Series. Spire Motorsports has won as a long shot here before, and at these odds, it's well worth the gamble on another stunner.
