🏁 Belgian Grand Prix predictions, expert picks & best bets
Editor's note: Picks were made after FP1 and Sprint Qualifying.
Before making your bets, make sure you account for the rainy conditions at Spa. The Belgian Grand Prix is renowned for its temperamental weather, and according to the latest forecast, there is a 100% chance of rain.
While Lewis Hamilton has historically shown the best aptitude for dealing with wet weather, he struggled with Ferrari's recent upgrades during sprint qualifying.
There's about 5 millimeters expected during the race.
🏆 Pick to win Belgian Grand Prix: Oscar Piastri ⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: -110 via BetMGM ($10 returns $9.09 profit)
Don't be deterred by this pick's three-star rating. That's purely due to Piastri's shorter-than-Martin Short odds. On Monday, I backed Piastri to end his three-race winless skid in our Belgian Grand Prix odds and predictions.
He's not only due for a win, but he's been showing all the signs of a driver about to hop up to the podium's pedestal.
He was the best driver for much of the British Grand Prix but was punished for an inexplicable, inexperienced error. His 10-second penalty for breaking too late after a restart ended his quest to get back into the winner's circle.
Well, if FP1 and sprint qualifying are anything to go by, he's up for the Belgian Grand Prix. Piastri is oozing confidence at Spa, saying after taking pole for Saturday's sprint:
“Thanks to the team, the car’s been great and this is a track I love. It’s my favourite one of the year and, I don’t know, maybe that gave me a couple of extra tenths! It’s always good fun around here, when the car’s handling as well as it is today it’s a pleasure.”
Piastri's blistering pace through sector two, featuring the most challenging corners of the track, instilled the most confidence.
💎 Best value bet to win Belgian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +350 via DraftKings ($10 returns $35 profit)

Red Bull is ready for this race, and I presume Verstappen is as well. They have adapted the car for the numerous high-speed sections at Spa, arming it with a low-downforce set-up.
While Verstappen's relationship with his car this season reminds me of an acrimonious divorce, he showed up well in sprint qualifying, with the second-fastest time. He's the meat between the McLaren drivers' bread for Saturday's sprint, and not for the first time.
The Dutchman has endured a subpar run recently, having not won in five races. However, he performed better at the British Grand Prix, and the car responded positively to the recent changes. Additionally, Spa has one of the most challenging collections of corners, calling for elite skill and technique.
That should benefit the four-time defending champion. Of our best sports betting apps, DraftKings and bet365 offer the best value.
🎯 Best long shot to win Belgian Grand Prix: Charles Leclerc ⭐⭐⭐
Best odds: +1800 via FanDuel ($10 returns $180 profit)

On Monday, I backed Hamilton as my long-shot pick. Due to his sprint qualifying spin-out and defeatist attitude, I'm changing course faster than drivers change tires when the skies open.
While Hamilton portrayed a disillusioned, aggrieved employee after sprint qualifying, teammate Charles Leclerc displayed a much more upbeat figure, actually vouching for the car's improvements.
He finished with the fourth-fastest time in sprint qualifying, a respectable result considering Ferrari's inability to surpass McLaren.
Backing Leclerc is nothing more than a flier, though, as Ferrari continues looking for its first win of the season. DraftKings and FanDuel have odds of +1800, the best available.

Piastri is flying in the MCL39. Unless the heavens open and Noah's Ark is required, I can't see anyone outperforming the Australian in a single lap.
In sprint qualifying, Piastri was 0.298 seconds faster than Norris through the corner-riddled sector two. That's significant considering he lost only 0.09 seconds to Verstappen in sector one, which has just one corner.
Usually at Spa, a fast sector two means a significantly slower sector one. That wasn't the case for Piastri, who maintained his elite pace throughout.
Plus, Piastri has won three of the last four fastest laps.

💡 How to bet on Belgian Grand Prix
When betting on any grand prix, there are many things to consider, some more crucial than others:
- The Belgian Grand Prix is one of six races with a sprint. It's important to track how the drivers do in spring qualifying and in the sprint itself. Of course, qualifying will give you an even better idea of who is ticking along, particularly as it details the grid positions for Sunday's race
- You might get better odds picking a driver before qualifying, but it could also make winning much more challenging if qualifying doesn't go well
- Only 11 of the last 23 races at Spa were won by the pole-sitter
