Motivation is one heck of a drug, and we'll see just how much it matters on Thursday.
We thought we'd see a better effort from the Mystics, but the New York Liberty were too good with too much on the line to let up in Tuesday's 87-71 win, which helped them clinch the No. 1 seed.
That won't be the case for Indiana, which has already locked in the No. 6 seed and likely won't want to risk injury for its top stars - if they play at all.
Meanwhile, a Mystics loss spells the end of their season after they won seven of their final 11 games to reach this point.
Those wins weren't a fluke as Brittney Sykes - their top returning scorer from last year - is finally healthy and playing some of her best basketball.
Who will play in Fever vs. Mystics?
Sykes injured her toe in the third quarter of Tuesday's loss to the Liberty, and coach Eric Thibault said they'll "see how it feels" ahead of the finale.
I have to imagine she'll gut it out if she can to help her team's postseason push. I don't have the same confidence that we'll see Fever stars Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell or others - at least not for the full 40 minutes.
That's a huge deal, as Indiana doesn't have the depth of other top contenders to keep pace with its B-squad. Even if the Fever do roll out their full rotation, what's the upside in burning out your legs a few days before the first round?

Defense takes effort, and I'm not sure we'll see that in full supply for the Fever in Thursday's regular-season finale.
Even if we do get a typical effort from Indiana, this group has ranked first in scoring (88.5 PPG) and 10th in opponent scoring (86.4 PPG) since June 13, and it's scored 100-plus points in four of its last eight games while ceding triple digits twice in that stretch.
If the Mystics can push the pace on Thursday, they should be able to put up points in an effort to keep their season alive.
These teams cleared this betting total in all three previous meetings with each side scoring 80-plus in every game, including an 89-84 win by Washington when they last met on July 10.
