🏆 French Open expert picks & predictions

Here are my best French Open picks to win the men's and women's singles tournaments - plus my best prop bet and favorite long shot at Roland-Garros.

🎾 Men's winner: Carlos Alcaraz (+125) ⭐⭐⭐

When Carlos Alcaraz won the Italian Open in Rome last month, he finalized his capturing of every major clay court title that exists - and he did so at the young age of 22.

Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are the only two players in the men's draw with odds shorter than +1400, and Alcaraz easily dispatched the world No. 1 in a 7-6, 6-1 victory in the Italian Open final a few weeks ago.

While Sinner displayed some dominant tennis in that run to the finals - he bageled Tommy Paul and Casper Ruud in two different sets and had two set points against Alcaraz - the fact that he is still not far removed from a three-month suspension makes his odds seem too short.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz improved his 2025 ATP clay court record to 15-1 with the Italian Open title. If he and Sinner meet in the Roland-Garros final, the Spaniard can look to his four straight head-to-head wins over the Italian for confidence.

Alcaraz is just the fifth man to win all three Masters 1000 clay events, and he is the rightful favorite to defend his French Open title. That's why I'll gladly back him at these plus-money odds to win yet another major.

He won his first round matchup with Giulio Zeppieri in straight sets.

🎾 Women's winner: Coco Gauff (+550) ⭐⭐

Coco Gauff won the French Open doubles title last year, and her 80% winning percentage on the clay at Roland-Garros is her best across the four Grand Slams.

Gauff has made the semifinals or better in two of the last three years, and she earned a favorable draw with not having to face either of the top two favorites - Aryna Sabalenka or Iga Swiatek - until the finals.

Gauff appears to be on a collision course with fellow American and Australian Open winner Madison Keys in the quarterfinals. But Keys has bowed out in the third round or earlier in four of her previous five Roland-Garros appearances.

Prior to Swiatek’s recent three-peat, the last six French Open winners were first-time Grand Slam champions. While Gauff has won a US Open, these are great odds for her to win her second major title and first at the French Open. Her first matchup is against Olivia Gadecki on Tuesday.

DraftKings agrees, as it offers -370 odds (carrying a 78.72% implied probability) for there to be a first-time women’s winner. The sportsbook is also offering the best odds on Gauff with her price hovering around +500 elsewhere.

🎾 Best prop bet: Lorenzo Musetti to win 3rd quarter (+180) ⭐⭐⭐

Lorenzo Musetti avoided being placed in the same quarter as the top four pre-tournament favorites. Instead, he will likely need to navigate several American players who have not had much success on clay in their careers.

Conversely, Musetti lost in three sets in the Monte Carlo Masters final to Alcaraz and is arguably the most accomplished clay-court player in his quarter. Musetti is also the only player born in 2000 or later to reach all the clay court Masters 1000 semifinals in a single year.

His pre-tournament futures odds improved from +3000 to +2400 at FanDuel in just a short week because of his favorable draw, and these are great odds for the Italian to at least make a semifinal appearance at Roland-Garros.

Musetti won his first round matchup with Yannick Hanfmann in straight sets (7-5, 6-2, 6-0). Next up is Daniel Elahi Galan on Wednesday.

🎾 Favorite long shot: Qinwen Zheng to reach the final (+1400) ⭐⭐

The fact that Swiatek, the three-time defending champion, is not the favorite to win this year suggests the women’s draw is wide open - and Qinwen Zheng is our favorite sleeper.

Zheng has long futures odds after being placed in the same quarter as the pre-tournament favorite. But while Zheng is 1-6 in seven career head-to-head meetings with Sabalenka, she won their previous meeting 6-4, 6-3 two weeks ago in Rome, which was their only career meeting on clay.

Zheng showed how high her ceiling can be on clay while taking the gold medal at last year's Summer Olympic games in Paris, beating Swiatek in the final.

She has a six-match winning streak on the Roland-Garros courts and could easily flip to the favorite entering the semifinals if she beats Sabalenka to get there. That makes her +1400 odds to reach the final much more appealing than her +500 odds to win her quarter at FanDuel.

Zheng faces Emiliana Arango after winning her first round tilt against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in straight sets (6-4, 6-3).

✅ Best odds: +1400 via FanDuel ($10 bet wins $140)
