The Washington Mystics host the New York Liberty at Entertainment & Sports Arena for the WNBA season opener on Tuesday, tipping off at 7 p.m. ET. Here are our best Liberty vs. Mystics predictions based on the best WNBA odds.

Hungry for redemption following their defeat in the WNBA Finals last season, the New York Liberty are determined to bounce back and are considered top contenders this year, as per the 2024 WNBA championship odds.

New York's journey to secure a second consecutive Eastern Conference title begins on Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET, as they take on the Washington Mystics in a rematch of last September's first-round series.

The Liberty enter the game as 12-point favorites across our best sports betting sites. This comes after their success in four out of six matchups in 2023, including a clean sweep in the postseason. Liberty vs. Mystics predictions for Tuesday

Liberty -11.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

At a quick glance, this may feel like an inflated line after the Mystics beat the Liberty by 16 points in their 2023 season opener. Yet this New York team is even better than last year ... and Washington is significantly worse.

Start with the Liberty, who bolstered their bench after a second-place finish last year. After a slow start to the season, their star-studded lineup - led by the MVP winner in Stewart - gelled late to win 14 of their final 16 regular-season games and five of their first six postseason games before losing to the Las Vegas Aces in the WNBA Finals.

The Mystics, meanwhile, lost leading scorer Elena Delle Donne (personal) and top passer Natasha Cloud (free agency) from a team that posted a losing record in 2023. I wouldn't be surprised if this game is close early, but New York should pull away late.

Mystics Under 75.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Mystics already struggled to score last season, ranking seventh in offensive rating (101.5) and 10th in field-goal percentage (42.8%) while averaging 80.5 points per game.

That was before they lost Delle Donne (16.7 PPG) - one of the greatest scorers in the history of the sport - and Cloud (12.7), who combined for 26.5% of Washington's scoring production and 36.2% of its assists in 2023. Those two have since been replaced by Karlie Samuelson (7.7 PPG) and Stefanie Dolson (4.0) in the starting lineup.

That isn't exactly an encouraging swap ahead of this matchup with the Liberty, whose defense waned late in 2023 but should be in form to open the year against this depleted Mystics lineup.
