Tyler Reddick enters the NASCAR Cup Series' first-ever street race as the favorite, but can he back up his status as the front-runner with a victory in Chicago? Find out with our Grant Park 220 odds and NASCAR picks.

The NASCAR Cup Series will be racing on city streets for the first time ever. Chicago has the honor of hosting the first street race in the sport’s history with Sunday's Grant Park 220 taking place in the heart of the downtown region.

Of course, it’s somewhat difficult to handicap the race due to the fact that it's a brand-new track and discipline. With no NASCAR street racing data to utilize, bettors are encouraged to lean on practice and qualifying results, as well as road course driver statistics.

Denny Hamlin claimed the pole position over Tyler Reddick. The latter has notably been one of the top road racers in the sport during the last calendar year.

Supercar driver Shane van Gisbergen turned heads by qualifying third, while Michael McDowell, Kyle Larson, and A.J. Allmendinger are among the other drivers with proven road racing success to qualify among the top 10.

Here are our best Grant Park 220 odds and picks for Sunday’s inaugural Chicago street-course race (odds via our best sports betting apps; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Grant Park 220 predictions

Outright winner: Tyler Reddick (+500 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐

The last time we saw the stars of NASCAR run on a road course at Sonoma, Reddick got ousted from contention through no fault of his own. Unless similar unexpected events transpire on Sunday, the No. 45 car figures to have as good a shot as any to wind up in victory lane following the sport’s first-ever street race.

Reddick was victorious at Road America during the Fourth of July weekend last year. That win marked his first in the Cup Series and has been followed by two additional wins in the past year, both of which came on road courses. Reddick took the checkered flag at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last season and was triumphant again at Circuit of the Americas this spring.

In seven road races since the start of the 2020 season, Reddick ranks sixth in average finish (13.4) and fourth in average driver rating (94.8). Since the advent of the Next Gen Car last year, he's been even stronger. With a front-row starting spot, Reddick will be a strong candidate to capture another win in the Grant Park 220.

Head-to-head matchup: Kyle Larson (+110 via Caesars) vs. Martin Truex Jr. ⭐⭐⭐

On the surface, it makes sense why the sportsbooks are pitting Kyle Larson against Martin Truex Jr. in head-to-head matchups this week, and that they have the latter listed as a slight favorite. After all, Truex was victorious just two weeks ago at Sonoma and has been the most consistent driver in the Cup Series as of late.

However, the Grant Park 220 presents a total unknown as far as track stats and how drivers will navigate NASCAR’s inaugural street race. As such, it seems a bit skeptical to price Larson as a plus-money underdog in a head-to-head matchup.

The No. 5 team may not be dominating the field this season, but Larson is still one of the best and most adaptable drivers in the sport. In all road races since 2020, his average driver rating ranks second in the Cup Series, and his average finish of 12.9 ranks fourth. Both marks are ahead of those by Truex, who hasn’t been a major player on the road courses like he once was.

In addition, Larson qualified seventh for Sunday’s race and will line up four spots ahead of Truex on the grid. It remains to be seen just how easily drivers are able to pass in this race, so grid position could be a major factor.

Caesars’ +110 price on Larson offers the greatest return in the market.

Winning manufacturer: Toyota (+115 via SuperBook) ⭐⭐⭐

We are jumping into the manufacturer market for our final Grant Park 220 betting selection. Although there are fewer Toyotas than both Chevrolets and Fords in the field, the manufacturer appears to be primed for a successful race.

First and foremost, betting on a Toyota victory is never a bad option when it comes to road courses due to the presence of Reddick. However, Reddick isn’t the only one who will be starting Sunday’s race up near the front.

Pole-sitter Hamlin and Christopher Bell were also among the top-four qualifiers. A little further back, Truex and Ty Gibbs will be occupying Row 6 on the grid.

With so many skilled road racers and strong starting positions, a +115 price on a Toyota victory is quite appealing. When one considers that DraftKings has this same prop listed at -105, the value available at SuperBook becomes that much more enticing.
