While Usain Bolt's dominance over the 100m landscape has ended, Jamaican sprinter remain the most formidable force in sprint events. Jamaican Kishane Thompson is the favorite oddsboard at our best sports betting sites.

And, just as Bolt often was, his biggest competitors include an American and a fellow countryman.

Our Olympic men's 100m final odds and prediction feature two heavy front-runners (pun intended) atop the oddsboard, but Thompson is a major favorite over American sprinter Noah Lyles. They aren't separated by much in terms of the odds, but they do more or less tower over the competition.

Jamaican runner Oblique Seville rounds out what projected podium based on the odds, though he's trading at a significantly longer price than the two favorites.

Olympic men's 100m final favorites

Kishane Thompson (-155)

With Bolt retiring, Tokyo 2020 represented the first Olympics since 2004 that a Jamaican sprinter failed to win the gold medal (or medal at all) in the men's 100m. Thompson looks to put his country back on the podium in Paris, and he's priced as the favorite to take home gold.

His personal-best 9.77 came roughly one month ago during the Olympic trials, so Thompson is peaking at the right time. These Olympics will prove whether Jamaica has its next great sprinter or if the heir to Bolt's throne is yet to be seen.

Noah Lyles (+130)

The USA has medaled in this event every year since the turn of the millennium, with Justin Gatlin being the most recent American to win gold in 2004.

Lyles is a far different runner than Thompson. At 5-foot-11, he appears to glide across the track, while the 6-foot-1 Jamaican is power personified. Despite their differences in running style, the two have similar personal bests in the 100m, with Lyles' 9.81 coming just a couple of weeks ago in London.

Olympic men's 100m final prediction

Of course, anything can happen when people start sprinting full-speed down a track, but my approach to this event would be to hedge with bets on both Thompson and Lyles. Despite the shift in odds in Thompson's favor - he was trading at plus-money - not much separates these athletes.

Therefore, why not place bets on both Thompson and Lyles? There was only a 4.44% difference in implied probability between initially with Thompson's opening odds at +125 and Lyles' at +150.

These events are always difficult to handicap, so let's play it safe with no clear single favorite.
