Get ready for the white flag on the high banks of Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday with our Quaker State 400 picks and predictions based on the top available NASCAR odds from our best sports betting apps.

The NASCAR Cup Series is set to return to normalcy on a 1.5-mile oval track after taming the streets of Chicago. But the newly reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway is unlike any other intermediate oval on the series schedule. Sunday evening’s Quaker State 400 will be the Cup Series’ fourth race in 2023 on the high-banked configuration.

Joey Logano passed Brad Keselowski in the final laps to secure the win during the first time NASCAR raced at Atlanta in 2023 back in March. Chase Elliott and William Byron are the other two drivers who have gone to victory lane here since the track was repaved and reconfigured.

Bettors must keep in mind that Atlanta now runs similar to Daytona and Talladega. The high banking creates a shortened superspeedway of sorts. However, it's nowhere near as wide or as long, which makes passing in the draft a bit more difficult. While these races can be tough to predict, they come with more profitable odds as a result.

Here are our best bets and 2023 Quaker State 400 picks for Sunday’s action at Atlanta Motor Speedway (odds via FanDuel, BetMGM, and SuperBook; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Quaker State 400 predictions

Outright winner: Chris Buescher (+2500 via FanDuel) ⭐

Unpredictable superspeedway-style racing leads to quality opportunities for bettors when backing drivers with longer odds in the outright winner market. Chris Buescher has been spearheading a resurgent year for RFK Racing, and he's our selection to win Sunday’s Quaker State 400.

Buescher has quietly been running well on a near-weekly basis in 2023, and he enters the weekend 11th in the overall points standings. While an outright win has eluded him thus far, Buescher has already accumulated a trio of top-five finishes and eight total top 10s. He's also finished 12th or better in five of the last six points races.

The veteran has logged finishes of seventh, 33rd, and 35th on the reconfigured version of Atlanta Motor Speedway. That horrendous finish from this past spring is hardly indicative of how well the No. 17 car ran that day. Buescher earned stage points in both stages before getting caught in a wreck during the final segment of the race.

He's also hardly a slouch when it comes to superspeedway racing. Buescher has accumulated three top-five results and six top-10 finishes across 14 starts dating back to 2020. While teammate Keselowski is likely to be a popular pick this week after finishing runner-up in the spring race, Buescher offers a considerably greater return, especially at FanDuel. That shop is offering the most appealing price among our best sports betting sites while posting him at +2500.

Top 5 finish: Austin Cindric (+500 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐

This is the second time in 2023 we're hopping on board an Austin Cindric prop bet.

After coming up only a few positions short of cashing our top-10 wager for the World Wide Technology Raceway, we’ll aim for a better result while backing Cindric to finish top five in the Quaker State 400 on Sunday.

Cindric has already proven himself capable of finishing well in this racing discipline at the Cup Series level. Of course, winning the 2022 Daytona 500 as a rookie was the high point.

He's also finished third and 11th during the last two races at the high-banked intermediate track that is Atlanta Motor Speedway. Prior to finishing just outside of the top 10 this spring, Cindric earned a runner-up result during Stage 1 and crossed the line first to end Stage 2.

Finally, Cindric finished sixth in Chicago during the last NASCAR race. It's been a miserable season in general for the No. 2 Team Penske outfit, but perhaps that solid run will provide momentum heading into Atlanta.

When it comes to odds shopping, BetMGM is easily the preferred spot to maximize your potential return while wagering on a Cindric top-five finish. Both DraftKings and PointsBet are listing this prop at +350.

Group F matchup: Justin Haley (+295 via SuperBook) vs. Aric Almirola, A.J. Allmendinger, and Michael McDowell ⭐⭐⭐

Speaking of drivers who could be feeding off the momentum gained in Chicago, how about Justin Haley?

While the No. 31 car has been accumulating a few sneaky-strong finishes, none hold a candle to last week’s runner-up result in Chicago. Now Haley will look to keep the train rolling in a racing discipline that he's excelled at throughout his NASCAR career.

Haley finished seventh in 2022 during the Quaker State 400. He's also logged finishes of 11th and 22nd on the reconfigured version of Atlanta Motor Speedway. Haley was one of the best superspeedway racers during his time in the Xfinity Series, and he even won the rain-shortened Coke Zero Sugar 400 at the Cup Series level back in 2019.

Admittedly, Aric Almirola, A.J. Allmendinger, and Michael McDowell have all shown a knack for running well in the superspeedway discipline over the years. However, the three have registered only one combined top-12 finish at the reconfigured Atlanta Motor Speedway. Haley has tallied two on his own.

The Kaulig Racing driver being priced as the long shot in this four-man race is confusing. The opportunity to nab a +295 return on a driver with solid superspeedway stats and a wave of momentum is too good to pass up.
