Storm vs. Wings Prediction, Expert Picks & WNBA Odds: Can Seattle Stay Hot in Dallas?

The Dallas Wings host the Seattle Storm at College Park Center, as we offer our best Storm vs. Wings prediction and expert picks based on the best WNBA odds.
The Seattle Storm (8-4) and Dallas Wings (3-7) are trending in opposite directions ahead of their meeting on Thursday, which tips off at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN) from College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
The Storm are 6-point road favorites to beat the Wings across our best sports betting sites after winning seven of eight games entering Thursday's contest. That strong play lately has been helping Seattle surge in the WNBA championship odds market following a slow start to the year.
On the other side, the Wings have dropped five straight after a double-overtime loss to the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday. That comes even with Arike Ogunbowale making her case in the WNBA MVP odds race amid one of the best scoring seasons in league history.

Storm -6 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Entering this season, I held high expectations for the Storm after an aggressive offseason that united Jewell Loyd with fellow All-Stars Nneka Ogwumike and Skylar Diggins-Smith.
The early returns were mixed, but this group is finally looking like a force to be reckoned with in 2024. Seattle has won seven of its last eight games, with the WNBA's best net rating (+14) over that stretch, outscoring opponents by 10.8 points per matchup.
Loyd has been the WNBA's third-leading scorer (22.1 points per game) during that run, guiding the Storm to the third-best offensive rating (105.2) since May 22. But the team's defense has been even better. Opponents are shooting just 38.6% against Seattle over its last eight contests, the best mark in the W. The Storm have also allowed the second-fewest points per game (74.6) and per 100 possessions (91.3).
A key reason why is the play of Ezi Magbegor, the 6-foot-4 center who signed an extension with the team last week. She's been a menace defensively, blocking three-plus shots in eight straight games, all while averaging 13.2 points across the entire season.
The result is a "super team," as A'ja Wilson called them after Seattle's road win over the Las Vegas Aces last week, and it seems our best sportsbooks are slow to catch on.
Wings clipped by injuries early on
As I mentioned in my WNBA power rankings, I expect the Wings to look better in a few months than they do right now. But this team is in rough shape currently.
Ogunbowale (26.4 ppg) is doing all she can this season, ranking second in scoring behind only Wilson. She's currently on pace to break the single-season scoring record that Diana Taurasi set (25.3 ppg), though Ogunbowale is doing so on 36.1% shooting from the field and just 30% from deep.
That hasn't been enough for Dallas, which has lost its last five games by 8.6 points per contest. With starters Satou Sabally (shoulder), Natasha Howard (foot), and Jaelyn Brown (illness) all out for an extended period, the Wings simply lack the frontcourt depth and secondary scoring options to compete on either end of the court against the top teams in the W.

Storm vs. Wings player props for Thursday
Arike Ogunbowale Under 26.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ogunbowale has been on a scoring tear in 2024 for the Wings. But this is an awfully high total for her to clear on Thursday.
While she's averaging 26.4 points, that includes a 40-point outburst against the Mercury and two other games with 30-plus points. She's fallen below this mark in each of her other seven starts, including five of her last six. And now Ogunbowale faces a Storm defense that looks like the best in the WNBA lately.
Ogunbowale converted 10-plus free throws in all three of those games with 30-plus points, and she hit six-plus threes in two. The Storm have allowed the second-fewest 3-point attempts (21.3) and sixth-fewest free-throw attempts (18.6) over their last eight games, making this an even tougher assignment for Dallas' top scorer.
