As the CFL regular season winds down, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are in desperate need of a win when they take on the Toronto Argonauts on Friday at 7 p.m. ET (TSN/RDS, CFL+) from BMO Field in Toronto.

  • Our Tiger-Cats vs. Argonauts prediction expects a high-scoring game between these rivals
  • A win for Toronto could elevate their Grey Cup odds to the second-shortest in the East
  • The Argos are 6.5-point favorites at our best sportsbooks in Canada after upsetting the BC Lions last week

While neither is alive in the CFL Most Outstanding Player odds race, both these teams have big-name QBs that can lead a scoring onslaught.

Tiger-Cats vs. Argonauts prediction: Explosive offenses

CFL picks confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale.

Over 53.5 ⭐⭐⭐

It's been an abysmal season for Hamilton, but the Tiger-Cats have come to life as of late behind a rejuvenated Bo Levi Mitchell.

Hamilton is on a two-game winning streak with a 31-28 upset win over the Argos on Sept. 2 and a 37-21 win over the Ottawa Redblacks last week.

In those two starts, Mitchell completed 70.1% of his passes for 646 yards and four touchdowns. Along with Tim White and Steven Dunbar, Mitchell has Hamilton first in the league in yards per game (406.4) and fourth in points per game (26.7).

Ahead of the Tiger-Cats in scoring is Toronto (28 PPG), which has two of the best at their position in QB Chad Kelly and running back Ka'Deem Carey. With a loaded group of receivers, Kelly should be able to torch Hamilton's defense.

Non-existent defenses

The Tiger-Cats' explosive offense hasn't translated to many wins this year because the defense is staler than a box of day-old Timbits.

Hamilton allows the most points per game in the CFL (31.5), and the third-highest QB rating (100.5) and third-most rushing yards per game (106.2).

But Toronto isn't much better, giving up the fourth-most points per game (26.3) and the second-highest QB rating (102.7). Over their last three outings, the Argos have allowed 29.6 points per game.

The poor defense is why these two teams are the best Over bets in the league - Hamilton is 9-4 to the Over and Toronto is 8-5. If they hit it again, a $10 bet pays a $9.01 profit.
