🤔 Is Caitlin Clark playing tonight vs. Dream?
Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is out for tonight's matchup with the Dream due to a quadriceps injury. Last year's WNBA Rookie of the Year hasn't played since May 24, but she participated in at least a portion of practice on Monday. Still, the team is playing it safe and holding her out against Atlanta.
🏀 Fever vs. Dream prediction & best bet
🎯 Score prediction: Dream 88, Fever 82
It appears that new head coach Karl Smesko and his wide-open offense have completely rejuvenated an Atlanta franchise that hasn't had a winning record since 2018. With the Dream looking like the most improved team in the W, Indiana could find itself in trouble, especially with Clark out on tonight.
Smesko, who won 11 ASUN Tournaments as bench boss at Florida Gulf Coast, has the Dream sitting second in the league in points per game (84.6) and third in offensive rating (107). The Dream have gone for 88-plus points in four of eight games this season, including dropping 91 in a one-point win over Indiana when Clark was healthy.
So, imagine how the Fever will look against this team without Clark - or at least with her on a minute restriction. Indiana just doesn't have the firepower to keep up with the one-two punch of Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard on the outside and the physicality of Brittney Griner and Brionna Jones inside.
Gray and Howard have Atlanta ranked second in the W in made threes per game (9.6) while Griner and Jones have the team leading the league in rebounds (37.6). And Indiana hasn't played a team with a winning record in the four games it's gone without Clark - the Fever were favored in all four but went 2-2 ATS.
Meanwhile, the Dream have the best ATS record in the WNBA (5-3) and have covered in four of their last five.

👀 Star prop to watch: Rhyne Howard Over 5.5 assists

Gray and Howard are thriving in Smesko's offense, with the latter assuming a larger role as a facilitator in her fourth season in the league. While Gray has shined as the team's leading scorer thanks to her efficient 3-point shooting, Howard has been racking up assists as the one setting her up.
The former No. 1 pick is averaging a career-high 5.1 assists per game, seventh-most in the league, and has taken that up to six per game in her last five outings.
