The Sky's record is a little misleading. They've won five games, but those five have come against three different teams - the Dallas Wings, Connecticut Sun, and Los Angeles Sparks. Those three teams, along with Chicago, are at the bottom of the league in average point differential and have a combined 14-42 record. So while the Mystics are just 8-10 this season, they've proven to be a far more competent team than the Sky. The last time these two played, Washington won 79-72, and this time around, I'm projecting an 80-74 win as part of our Sky vs. Mystics predictions.

Although Washington has a losing record, it has still proven to be a dangerous team under Sydney Johnson's first season as bench boss. After going just 14-26 last year, the Mystics added plenty of reinforcement alongside Brittney Sykes and Shakira Austin, and it's paying off. Rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen sit behind just Paige Bueckers in the WNBA Rookie of the Year race, with the duo combining for 26.9 points and 13.2 rebounds per game.
Meanwhile, Sykes and Austin remain steady veteran presences and have helped Washington rank top five in both made 2-pointers per game (21.8) and made free throws per game (18.4). That foursome should get after a Sky defense that's second-last in defensive rating (111.2), allowing the second-most points per game (87.2), the second-highest field-goal percentage (45.2%), and the most 3-pointers (10.5).
Defensively, Washington is far better than Chicago, too. The combo of Iriafen and Austin inside should slow Reese, and Kamilla Cardoso may not even play after being away from the team to play for Brazil in the FIBA AmeriCup. With or without her, the Sky's offense always looks like it's falling. Chicago is second-last in offensive rating (100.2) and points per game (78.6). Tyler Marsh's team just isn't very good.

Most years, a rookie like Citron would be building all kinds of buzz, but because Bueckers is getting all the attention, the Mystics' No. 3 pick is flying under the radar to some degree. She's top 20 in offensive win shares (1.3) and was on an absolute heater before a seven-point performance against the Minnesota Lynx in her last outing.
Due to that low output, we're getting wild value on her Over here at plus-money against one of the league's worst defenses. Citron had gone Over 13.5 points in four of her last five games, and averaged 19.2 PPG over that stretch, before the stinker against the Lynx. Look for her to bounce back against Chicago. I'd take this Over with odds as short as -120.
