I’m betting on early offense for the Liberty in what should be a track meet against the Sparks. I’d take the Over on their team total in the first quarter and first half (45.5) for those interested in backing New York.

The Liberty got off to a slow start against the Mercury last night, scoring 23 points in the opening period. But they have generally been hot out of the gate, ranking second in the league with a first-quarter offensive rating of 111.5 (and first in home games).

New York leads the league with an average of 23 points per game in the first quarter. That bodes well against a Sparks team that is 11th in defensive rating and 12th in first-quarter defensive rating.

The game total (175) speaks to a high-scoring affair, but I’d rather bet on a quick start from New York than worry about when starters are pulled in the final period.
