For much of the season, Connecticut was flirting with the worst net rating in league history and getting blown out by everyone. Now, the Sun are starting to look like a competitive basketball team, as they’ve gotten healthier and their rookies are finding a rhythm.

Marina Mabrey returned on Thursday, playing 26 minutes in a loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. It marked her first game in over a month, but Connecticut has desperately missed her scoring punch and creation skills.

At the same time, Golden State lost its best player (Kayla Thornton) for the year earlier this week. The Valkyries managed to earn an 86-76 win in their first game without her, but they will miss their leading scorer in their quest to become the first expansion team to make the playoffs.

Between Thornton’s absence and Mabrey’s return, I’m not sure the spread adjusted enough, especially when you add in Golden State’s travel and Connecticut’s recent form. 

I’d take the spread at +6 or better as a four-star play.
