LeBron James predictably headlines our Warriors vs. Lakers predictions for Thursday.

Two teams that have made some of the most significant moves at this year’s trade deadline will square off at 10 p.m. ET on Thursday when the Los Angeles Lakers (29-19) host the Golden State Warriors (25-25) at Crypto.com Arena on ESPN.

  • Warriors traded for Jimmy Butler on Wednesday night
  • A few hours later, the Lakers traded for Mark Williams (after landing Luka Doncic earlier in the week)

As a result, the Warriors will be shorthanded after sending out so much for Butler. The Lakers are 7.5-point favorites after losing two reserves themselves in the deal for Williams.

Our Warriors vs. Lakers predictions and player prop picks try to make sense of this unusual matchup.

Best Warriors vs. Lakers prop predictions

Stephen Curry prop pick: Under 27.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Warriors were reportedly in a bitter mood after announcing the Butler trade just before their 131-128 loss to the Utah Jazz. Head coach Steve Kerr even suggested moving the trade deadline to the All-Star break in his press conference to avoid players being moved when they have games.

I’m not expecting the Warriors’ best effort tonight, while the Lakers’ defensive game plan should revolve around slowing down Stephen Curry. I expect Austin Reaves to chase him around now that the team has traded away Max Christie. Reaves is actually solid in a chaser role.

I project 25 points for Curry, giving bettors a clear edge on this line at BetMGM. Our best sports betting sites have dropped this to as low as 26.5.

Rui Hachimura prop pick: Over 15.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

To avoid being traded, Lakers forward Rui Hachimura has posted three straight 20-point efforts. He’s averaged 12.66 field-goal attempts per contest over that span.

While the trade deadline will have passed by this evening’s game, Hachimura still has to play well to hang onto his starting spot over Dorian Finney-Smith. He’s shot at least five 3-pointers in three straight games, a sign of what he could bring when Luka Doncic potentially makes his season debut on Saturday.

I’ll consider an alternate market for Hachimura, who has averaged 36 minutes in the last two games. But this +100 value is worth scooping up before tipoff.

LeBron James prop pick: Under 27.5 points ⭐⭐⭐

While many debated how Doncic and LeBron James would fit together as ball-dominant players (an absurd argument), the 40-year-old legend provided a glimpse of that in Tuesday’s win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

James cut off the ball, facilitated (nine assists), rebounded (eight rebounds), and played solid defense (three steals). He scored 26 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He bonded with Doncic on the bench while watching his son close out a blowout win.

I expect a similar approach on Thursday, particularly if the Lakers don’t need as much to defeat the Warriors. With a projection of low-30s in minutes, James should finish below this scoring prop as he’s done in seven of his past nine outings.
