Alabama vs. Robert Morris Prediction, Odds & Preview Today: Best Picks for NCAA Tournament First Round

Our Alabama vs. Robert Morris predictions, odds, and preview for today's first-round NCAA Tournament tilt expect the No. 15 seed Colonials (26-8) to cover against the No. 2 seed Crimson Tide (25-8).
Today's game starts at 2:40 p.m. ET (truTV) from Rocket Arena in Cleveland, and the March Madness predictions below analyze why I believe the Colonials will keep things somewhat competitive.
While I don't expect the Colonials to prevent the Crimson Tide from advancing in the March Madness bracket, the pro-Colonials crowd should help the underdogs cover.

✅ Robert Morris to cover the spread: +22.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
In theory, Robert Morris is the perfect foil to Alabama, as the Colonials rank in the top 50 in ShotQuality’s points per possession as a top 50 “rim and 3 defense.” If you’ve ever seen a Crimson Tide shot chart, you’d know they hardly ever settle for a mid-range jumper.
It is somewhat concerning that Robert Morris’ toughest non-conference opponent, West Virginia, averaged 1.23 points per possession in the season opener. But I’d like to think the Colonials defense has come a long way since then.
This would be knocked down to a three-star play if Alabama’s Grant Nelson returns from a knee injury he suffered in the team’s SEC tournament loss to Florida.
But I expect head coach Nate Oats to err on the side of caution with his star big man, resting him for a hopeful return on Sunday against the Saint Mary’s/Vanderbilt winner.
I am making this wager at BetMGM, the only of our top sports betting sites charging less than the standard -110 juice to back the underdogs at +22.5.
📊 Best odds: -105 via BetMGM ($10 to win $9.52)
🔥 Kam Woods Over 4.5 assists ⭐⭐⭐
As a team, Robert Morris assisted on 60% of its field goals, the best rate in the Horizon League. Guard Kam Woods was a big reason for that, as his 5.1 assists per game ranked second in the conference.
Woods had five or more assists in four of the last six games and totaled seven-plus assists three times in that span.
He has the Horizon League Player of the Year Alvaro Folgueiras to play off of, and his ability to make threes at a high clip (42.7%) should open up driving lanes for Woods to make more plays.
📊 Best odds: +110 via BetMGM ($10 to win $11)
🎯 Score prediction: Alabama 93, Robert Morris 76
Alabama is the highest-scoring team in the country, averaging 91.1 points per game.
I don’t expect the Colonials to keep the Crimson Tide under their season average, but a pro-Robert Morris crowd should spur the underdogs on playing nearly two hours from campus. That’s why I’m predicting a final score of Alabama 93, Robert Morris 76.
📊 Best odds: +20000 via DraftKings ($10 to win $2000)
🤖 Alabama vs. Robert Morris AI prediction
For entertainment purposes, we asked ChatGPT to analyze historical trends and live NCAA Tournament stats before predicting the winner and exact score for Alabama vs. Robert Morris. Our AI prediction projects a final score of Alabama 85, Robert Morris 58.
🖥️ AI score prediction: Alabama 85, Robert Morris 58
- Alabama’s up-tempo style and depth will overwhelm Robert Morris. The Crimson Tide’s ability to score quickly in transition will be a major factor, especially if they force turnovers and get easy baskets.
- Alabama's athleticism and size will give them a significant edge on the boards. Robert Morris will struggle to match up in this area, which could lead to second-chance points and extended possessions for Alabama.
- Historically, high-scoring teams like Alabama are tough to stop in the NCAA Tournament. The Crimson Tide’s ability to score quickly in transition and hit shots from deep will be difficult for a team like Robert Morris to contain. If Alabama gets out to an early lead, it’s hard to see Robert Morris catching up.
🤔 Betting takeaway: ChatGPT's AI prediction would mean Alabama covering the spread (-22.5) and a total of Under 165.5 points. ChatGPT is not a dedicated sports betting model, but it can identify data that March Madness bettors might overlook.
