The Chattanooga Mocs (26-9) meet the Bradley Braves (28-8) in Tuesday’s NIT quarterfinal. Tipoff from Carver Arena in Peoria, Ill., is at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2).

The Braves are 3.5-point betting favorites to advance to the semifinals next week according to the NIT odds, but we like the Mocs' chances of keeping it close. We break it all down in our Chattanooga vs. Bradley prediction, odds, and preview.

Chattanooga won the regular-season title in an underrated Southern Conference and was the only league member to win double-digit games on the road this season. Five other teams won double-digit games in league play this year, and Chattanooga beat all of them on the road amid a 16-1 stretch to end the regular season, winning those games by an average of 9.4 points per game.

This is a fascinating clash of styles, as the Mocs will try to use a matchup zone press to speed up a Bradley team that ranks outside the top 260 in adjusted tempo. 

While the slower team usually dictates the pace, I am backing the Mocs, as the Braves did not face much full-court pressure in the Missouri Valley Conference this season.

Bradley’s interior size was a big reason it ranked in the top two in MVC play in 2-point percentage and effective field goal percentage allowed. Thus, while I am not calling for an upset, the Mocs have won six straight games outright as underdogs. 

That is why I believe they will keep it close, and am predicting a final score of Bradley 74, Chattanooga 73.
