Since Jim Larranaga abruptly stepped down as Miami's head coach 12 games into the season with a 4-8 record, the Hurricanes have only become worse. Former Cornell bench boss and current Miami interim head coach Bill Courtney is 2-13 since taking over, and the Canes rank 335th in adjusted defensive efficiency, per KenPom.
The last time Miami played Duke it lost 89-54 as a 23.5-point underdog. I don't see any way the Hurricanes can contain the Blue Devils' scoring attack now with their defensive issues. Miami is allowing the most points per game (83.1) and the highest field-goal percentage in ACC play (50.4%).
Are the Hurricanes really going to stop the freshman trio of Flagg, Kon Knueppel, and Khaman Maluach? They combined for 50 points, 24 rebounds, and nine assists the last time Duke played Miami. And those three have the Blue Devils sitting second in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency. The team is also putting up the most points per game in the ACC (82.3), and allowing the fewest points in conference play (62.5)
