The No. 1 seed Florida Gators (32-4) take on the No. 4 seed Maryland Terrapins (27-8) in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 at Chase Center in San Francisco. Both teams survived close calls in the last round, but which will step up when the game tips off at 7:39 p.m. ET (TBS/truTV)?

Florida enters as a 6.5-point favorite, and our Florida vs. Maryland prediction breaks down the matchup. As part of our March Madness predictions, we also highlight key player props, featuring Walter Clayton Jr., Alex Condon, and Ja'Kobi Gillespie in the Florida vs. Maryland player props.

πŸ”₯ Walter Clayton Jr. Under 19.5 Points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Maryland Terrapins are a good team, excelling at defending the perimeter. They rank fifth in overall adjusted defensive efficiency this season and are 14th in opponent 3-point percentage (30.2%). Since Feb. 1, they rank first in the former metric and 13th in the latter (28%).

Interestingly, the Terps have slowed their pace considerably since the tournament started, which throws another wrinkle into this matchup. Maryland has recorded a pace factor of 69.6 this year, but since the start of the tournament, that number has dipped to 63.8 - one of the slowest paces of any team in the NCAA Tournament.

These factors indicate Florida’s leading scorer is a good candidate to fade. Clayton is averaging only 17.9 points per game this season. While averaging 23 in the tournament, 68% of his shots have come from beyond the arc. Unless he's disproportionately accurate from downtown, it’s fair to expect a scoring dip.

πŸ”₯ Alex Condon Over 10.5 Points ⭐⭐⭐

We went 2-0 on our Alex Condon player props in the opening rounds by fading him on the points market. Our best sportsbooks have dropped his points total to 10.5, which is decent value for the sophomore. He is averaging 11.1 points per game this year, far more than his tournament average (8.5).=

Condon leads the Gators in rebounds per game and is primarily an interior scorer. Of his 7.6 field goal attempts per game, 78.9% were inside the arc, and he converted roughly 55%. The Terps rank 52nd in opponent 2-point percentage this year (47.6%), which is solid, but it’s certainly not as good as their perimeter defense.

If the Gators struggle to convert from long distance, look for them to try to get Condon going near the rim.

πŸ“Š Best odds: -110 via BetMGM ($10 to win $9.09)

πŸ”₯ Ja'Kobi Gillespie Over 4.5 Assists ⭐⭐⭐

The Terps have gotten a bunch of dimes from guard Gillespie. He averaged five on the season and is averaging five in the tournament. But his Big Ten tournament performances are the most interesting; he tallied nine dimes against Illinois and another nine against Michigan.

He is averaging 7.3 assists per game over the last four games. Much of that success comes down to an increase in minutes. Gillespie is averaging 31.6 on the year but cleared that number in three of four postseason starts.

If the game is close, look for him to soar over a surprisingly low assist total that sits well into the plus money at Fanatics.
