Kansas (18-9) looks to bounce back from a rough stretch of conference play as it travels to CU Events Center in Boulder, Colo., to take on Colorado (11-16) tonight at 11 p.m. ET on ESPN.

The Jayhawks have fallen short of preseason March Madness odds expectations, but they have a prime opportunity to regain momentum against a struggling Buffaloes squad. Our Kansas vs. Colorado prediction and odds project Bill Self’s team to take control and cruise to a much-needed victory.

  • Against the spread pick: Kansas -6.5 (-114 via BetRivers) vs. Colorado ⭐⭐⭐
  • My best player prop bet: Zeke Mayo Over 14.5 points (+100 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kansas vs. Colorado ATS pick & score prediction

Between how bad the Buffaloes have been this season, and the Jayhakws proving they can still play well after stomping Oklahoma State, I'm predicting Kansas will cover the spread (-6.5).

🏀 Kansas to cover the spread: -6.5 ⭐⭐⭐

It looked like the Jayhawks might drop from the sky like a wounded bird after following up their loss to Utah with an embarrassing defeat at the hands of BYU. But Self seems to have prepared his team to pummel the bottom feeders of the Big 12.

Kansas just blew out Oklahoma State during a 32-point win behind the play of Hunter Dickinson, Dajuan Harris Jr., and Zeke Mayo.

Those three should be ready to go big-game hunting for some buffalo tonight, with Colorado's defense sitting 65th in adjusted efficiency, according to KenPom, and allowing the fourth-most points per game in Big 12 play (74.4). Tad Boyle's squad doesn't stand a chance of keeping up with Kansas either, as the Buffaloes are hitting the fewest field goals per game in conference play (52.8).

And the Jayhawks' defense has been suffocating at times, as it's allowing the fourth-fewest points per game in the Big 12 (68.4) and the lowest field-goal percentage (39.3%). Kansas won 71-59 the last time these two teams played on Feb. 11.

🎯 Final score prediction: Kansas 77, Colorado 66

Kansas simply possesses too much talent to not overpower this lowly Colorado program. Dickinson is still one of the most productive players in the country, and the backcourt duo of Harris and Mayo should give the Buffaloes' defense issues.

That's why I'm predicting a final score of Kansas 77, Colorado 66, with the Jayhawks showcasing why they were No. 1 during the preseason.

💰 Zeke Mayo Over 14.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kansas' collective dropped several bags to load this roster up through transfer portal additions. While some newcomers haven't been living up to their billing, Mayo has been thriving. The South Dakota State transfer is second on the team in points per game (14.7), and he's averaging 15.5 against Big 12 teams.

Mayo has been at his best from behind the arc with a team-leading 2.6 made threes per game on 40.6% shooting from deep. That will come in handy against a Colorado defense allowing the second-highest 3-point percentage in Big 12 play (35.8%).

The senior has put up at least 15 points in 14 of 27 games this year (51.8%), including during 12 of his last 18 outings (66.7%). These even-money odds at FanDuel are appealing given his recent hot play.

Kansas vs. Colorado AI prediction

We asked ChatGPT, the popular chatbot from OpenAI, to offer its best AI prediction for Kansas vs. Colorado tonight, including a pick to win and exact score prediction. ChatGPT is a large language model and is not specifically designed for sports betting predictions.

🤖 AI score prediction: Kansas 85, Colorado 70

Considering Kansas' offensive momentum and Colorado's recent difficulties, the projected final score is Kansas 85, Colorado 70.

  • With Kansas' balanced scoring attack and veteran leadership from Harris and Dickinson, the Jayhawks should control the tempo while exploiting Colorado’s defensive struggles
  • Colorado is 2-14 since Dec. 30, and it's been outscored 74.4 to 66.1 on average in Big 12 games
  • The Jayhawks should be able to use their size advantage in the frontcourt with Dickinson leading, and their ability to push the pace in transition, to exploit the Buffaloes' defensive and rebounding struggles on the interior

This game is crucial for Kansas as the school aims to improve its conference standing, while Colorado seeks to break its poor play in front of a supportive home audience.
