This massive spread is warranted. Although Michigan State lost by three to the Wisconsin Badgers in the Big Ten semifinals, they are among the March Madness odds contenders and one of the hottest teams entering the tournament.
They have won eight of their last nine, with seven of those wins over ranked opponents. Five of those seven wins were by double digits.
The Bulldogs were just 6-9 in nonconference games this season, losing by 22 to the St. John’s Red Storm and 46 to the Grand Canyon Lopes. Those performances against tournament teams make it hard to see how they will compete.
The Bulldogs average over 80 points per game, but I would be shocked if they came anywhere near that total against the Spartans’ 37th-ranked scoring defense. The Spartans are allowing just 67.2 points per game, and they average more than 77 per, so I expect this to be a blowout from the opening tip.

🔥 Tre Holloman Over 10.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐
It’s hard to predict which Spartan will have a great game on any given day, as they’re a team with numerous players who can score. The team’s leading scorer, Jaden Akins, is averaging just 12.7 points per game, and 10 players are averaging at least 4.5. But in a game that should get out of hand, I’m confident most players will go over their season averages, especially Holloman.
Holloman averages only 9.0 points per game this season, but he’s been excellent down the stretch. He scored 10 in the Big Ten final, and he’s now scored in double figures in three of his last four. He scored 20 against the Michigan Wolverines in one of those games.
I like Holloman more than Akins or Jase Richardson because his total is because his total is the lowest. The Bulldogs give up 74.5 points per game, so I think all three players will hit the Over. Holloman doesn’t have to do much more than usual to get to his number, and the price at BetMGM is the most appealing of our best sports betting apps.

This should be one of the most lopsided games of the first round. The Bulldogs are allowing over 74 points per game, and they played 19 games against the America East. They played two tournament teams, with both scoring at least 99 against their porous defense.
The Bulldogs will want to get out and run, but the Spartans’ defense won’t let them, frustrating what is usually a high-powered offense, resulting in them scoring nearly 20 points fewer than usual. The only reason the Spartans won’t hit 100 is because they will pull their key players early.
