With its upset win over Duke, Clemson (19-5) is riding some serious momentum in ACC play into its matchup against North Carolina (14-10) at home from Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, S.C., tonight at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN).

While not yet a serious contender among the March Madness odds, the Tigers appear to be one of the best teams in the ACC. Our North Carolina vs. Clemson prediction expects them to prove that as a 5.5-point favorite.

North Carolina vs. Clemson ATS prediction

Clemson to cover the spread: -5.5 ⭐⭐⭐

Taking down a Duke program led by Wooden Award odds favorite Cooper Flagg has really put into perspective how serious a threat Clemson could be in the ACC this season, and just how much Flagg sweats. After a bumpy start to the year, the Tigers are 11-2 in ACC play and thriving on both ends of the court.

They sit fourth in the conference in PPG (75.5) and second in points allowed (66.8) behind a roster that has them as one of only three teams in the ACC that rank in the top 45 in both offensive and defensive efficiency, per KenPom. This season, the ACC's wonkiness has helped Clemson cover ATS in nine of its 13 conference games (69.2%).

The play of Chase Hunter, Ian Schieffelin, and Jaeden Zackery should hurt a Tar Heels defense that's 302nd in points allowed (76.3), 254th in twos allowed (18.7), and 210th in 3-point percentage allowed (33.7%). Hubert Davis' job has been questioned, with UNC 2-4 in its last six.

Given North Carolina's sporadic play this season and Clemson's leveling up against conference opponents, I'd expect the Tigers to show up in a big way and turn a $10 bet into a $9.26 profit. The Tar Heels are one of the worst teams in the country ATS (7-16-1) and are just 2-10 ATS since Dec. 29.

Best North Carolina vs. Clemson pick

Our NEW college basketball player prop odds tool can help you find the best odds on any market across legal sportsbooks in your area!

Chase Hunter Over 18.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This same prop is as short as -125 at our other best sports betting sites because North Carolina's defense has been so bad and Hunter is one of the most efficient shooters in the country. The sixth-year senior leads the ACC in 3-point percentage (43.5%), free throw percentage (89.8%), and he's fourth in field goal percentage (49%).

The Tar Heels are the perfect team for him to pop off against, too, given their struggles defending the perimeter and the frequency with which they put opponents on the charity stripe - UNC is 15th in the ACC in free throws allowed per game (15.2). North Carolina doesn't have a single player that ranks top 25 in the ACC in DBPR, per EvanMiya.

Hunter has already gone for 19-plus points 10 times this season, including in eight of his last 13 games. If he does it again against the Tar Heels, a $10 bet pays a $10 profit.
