The Gamecocks struggled in their Sweet 16 matchup against the Maryland Terrapins, and had it not been for a big push in the final five minutes, they may not have survived that game. That performance is likely to influence bettors ahead of Sunday's game against the Blue Devils, but the Gamecocks are still the right play.

When these two teams met earlier in the season, the Gamecocks won 81-70. However, that game was not nearly as close as the final score suggests. The Gamecocks led from wire-to-wire, shot over 57% from the field, and held the Blue Devils to 44.8% from the floor. At one point in the second half, the Gamecocks led by 25 before a pointless Blue Devils run.

The Gamecocks were disappointing in the Sweet 16, but the Blue Devils haven’t been great at this tournament, either. They held North Carolina to just 38 points on Friday, but in the Round of 32, they defeated the Oregon Ducks by only 59-53. These might be the two best teams in the region, but the Gamecocks are significantly better than the Blue Devils and that will show for the second time this season.

🔥 Chloe Kitts Over 11.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This prop’s price is what makes this such an interesting play. Kitts is averaging 10.3 points per game, which is third-best on the Gamecocks. On a team in which six players average at least eight points per game, it’s hard to trust a player to score more than their season average against one of the best defenses in the nation.

However, Kitts was incredible in the first meeting between these two. She scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. While the Blue Devils may make a more concerted effort to stop her on Sunday, she poses a serious matchup problem for them.

Additionally, Kitts just scored 15 against Maryland, and she has scored at least 10 in eight consecutive games. That includes a 15-point performance against the Texas Longhorns. Kitts is playing really well right now, and in a matchup that worked for her earlier this season, there’s no reason not to back her for this price.

However, the Gamecocks’ performance against Maryland does raise some alarms, so I’ll back the Blue Devils to keep this game mildly interesting.

Ultimately, the great defense of the Blue Devils won’t be able to hold the Gamecocks’ offense in check, as this game goes easily Over the posted total.
