South Carolina (+300)
Eight of the nine players who played over 10 minutes per game last season are back for the Gamecocks, including guards Te-Hina Paopao and Raven Johnson. And once again, it's the team's depth that makes it so dangerous.
Dawn Staley's squad has 10 players averaging double figure minutes this season, and all of them are averaging at least five points per game. The downside of all the depth is that there has yet to be a true star emerge. Now-WNBA post player Kamilla Cardoso was the clear leader on last year's team, but none of the quality options on the South Carolina's roster have completely filled that void.
Partially because of this, South Carolina was stunned in a 15-point road loss to fellow title contender UCLA. The Gamecocks saw only two players reach double figures in scoring while allowing five Bruins to top that mark on the other side. The lack of both offensive and defensive ability in the contest was eye-opening, and the team's odds fell as a result.
Between Staley's coaching ability and how she's built this roster as a master recruiter, the Gamecocks still deserve to be the favorites in the market. The +300 odds imply a 25% probability South Carolina repeats, according to our odds calculator.

UConn (+450)
With Bueckers returning for her redshirt senior season, the Huskies are the only team in the country with a former women's Wooden Award winner.
As a freshman, Bueckers was voted the best player in the country, but injuries as a sophomore and junior derailed her development. She came back with a vengeance last season while averaging 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. She shot 41.6% from deep.
As long as Bueckers is healthy - which could be an issue after another injury knocked her from Sunday's win over Villanova - UConn is a threat to win its first national championship since 2016.
But the Huskies need more from their supporting cast to truly get over the hump. Bueckers scored over 20 points in both of UConn's losses, but only one other player on the roster scored more than 14 in the two games combined.
The Huskies went through one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country, which is a reasonable excuse for the two losses. Their record shouldn't indicate any major flaws on this squad outside of a potential lack of depth, and there's still a reason to believe this blend of star power and experienced coaching is a threat to cut down the nets in early April.
With UConn fighting alongside USC, Notre Dame, and UCLA for the second spot in the odds table behind South Carolina, the Huskies' odds fell slightly to +450, where a $10 wager would pay out $45.
