3 NFL Team Props We Like For 2022: Colts Prepped for Breakthrough Season
Each season in the NFL brings plenty of surprises. How can bettors cash in big in 2022? We look at our top three NFL team props for the 2022 season.
Last year, the Cincinnati Bengals defied the odds by going all the way to the Super Bowl, the Tennessee Titans were the top seed in the AFC, and the Dallas Cowboys rebounded from a 6-10 2020 season to claim the NFC East title at 12-5.
We try to anticipate this season’s biggest surprises with three of our favorite team props for the 2022 NFL campaign, based on the odds via DraftKIngs Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook.
NFL Team Props for 2022
Top NFL Team Prop Predictions
Colts to have most regular-season wins (+1600)
The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs are widely considered the top teams in the AFC, while the Bengals are the reigning conference champions. But don’t forget that the AFC's top seed last year came out of the AFC South, as the Tennessee Titans went 5-1 in their division.
The Indianapolis Colts should be able to do the same this year, especially after upgrading with Matt Ryan at quarterback. The Colts’ 2022 schedule is the easiest of any top playoff contender other than the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. With the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans still expected to occupy the AFC South's basement, Indianapolis gets a chance to ease into the 2022 campaign with games against each of them in the first two weeks. This will help the Colts adjust to life with Ryan under center.
With so much parity in both the NFC and AFC West, contenders in those divisions will cannibalize each other, making it difficult for any of them to emerge with more than a dozen victories. That leaves the Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Green Bay Packers as teams Indy most likely needs to beat out to cash this ticket, and I’ll take my chances at a 16:1 return.
Lions to make playoffs (+410)
Although the Detroit Lions have made just three playoff appearances since 1999 and haven’t won a postseason game in three decades, there’s a lot of optimism in Detroit this year around head coach Dan Campbell’s squad. The Leos were much better last season than their 3-13-1 record suggests, with six of their 13 losses coming by a single possession. Those include a last-second loss to the Baltimore Ravens on an NFL-record 66-yard field goal.
Despite those tough defeats, Detroit played hard for Campbell all year, and a soft 2022 schedule provides an outside shot at 10 wins if the Lions can finally catch some breaks. That should be enough to secure a wild-card spot in the NFC, although the North Division title (+850 at BetMGM) could also be attainable if Packers QB Aaron Rodgers misses any time due to injury.
Bengals and Cowboys to miss playoffs (+564)
FanDuel allows you to parlay up to three teams not to make the playoffs, and I’ll take a shot at a fat price to fade a pair of teams that may have overachieved in 2021. Cincinnati shocked everyone by going all the way to the Super Bowl last season, but the Super Bowl hangover is real and now the Bengals have to play a first-place schedule instead of a fourth-place slate.
Meanwhile, a 6-0 record against the NFC East was key to the Cowboys’ 12-5 record last year. The division is much improved entering 2022 and Dallas hasn’t made consecutive postseason appearances since 2006-07.
