The Ashton Jeanty draft odds have changed drastically in the hours leading up to tonight's NFL draft. Jeanty has been a borderline top-10 prospect since his breakout junior season, but the Boise State product is rapidly ascending draft and oddsboards ahead of the first round at 8 p.m. ET (ABC, ESPN, NFL Network).

The Chicago Bears have had their eyes on Jeanty for a while, even though they don't pick until No. 10 in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, with rumors that other teams holding top selections are considering adding the running back, the Bears are exploring the possibility of trading up to No. 5 with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

🗳️ Could the Chicago Bears trade up to No. 5 for Jeanty?

Chicago is well-equipped to move up further into the top 10, if that's what general manager Ryan Poles and head coach Ben Johnson want to do. The Bears currently hold the No. 10 pick, in addition to two second-round selections (No. 39, No. 41 overall).

In total, they've got seven selections in the 2025 NFL Draft, including four across the first two days:

  • Round 2, Pick 39
  • Round 2, Pick 41
  • Round 3, Pick 72
  • Round 5, Pick 148
  • Round 7, Pick 233

Chicago also has its own picks for rounds one through seven in 2026. 

Meanwhile, Jacksonville would benefit from trading down five spots. This would allow the Jaguars to continue to stockpile early draft picks, which could be spent retooling the offense under first-year head coach Liam Coen.

Further, the two players the team reportedly has its eye on - Michigan DT Mason Graham and Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan - are candidates to slide in the draft, according to our best sports betting apps. These players could still be available at No. 10 if Jacksonville were to move back in a trade with the Bears.

Many are wondering why Chicago would target Jeanty with a top-10 pick, considering its biggest issue was protecting rookie quarterback Caleb Williams last season. The Bears spent big money in free agency to overhaul their offensive line, which allows them to look at skill positions early.

Running back D'Andre Swift enjoyed a fine season last year, rushing for nearly 1,000 yards and six touchdowns. However, Johnson's most successful seasons as an offensive coordinator with the Detroit Lions came when he had a two-headed monster in the backfield.

Jeanty - a true three-down running back - could act as a perfect complement to a player like Swift, who is more of a change-of-pace runner. He would also be the latest in a long line of skill position upgrades added to Chicago's roster in recent seasons.

The Bears are all-in on Williams as their franchise quarterback. Trading up to draft Jeanty would represent another bold attempt by the Chicago brass to better its roster, especially as it relates to the skill positions.
